Lustkit gazed at Heatherkit. "It's the anger talking Heatherkit. You know full well that alone, you cannot do anything against a rogue. Be sensible, you don't want to end up like mommy do you?" His eyes searched hers as he licked her cheek gently. He looked around at all his siblings before turning back to Heatherkit. "I think we should all get some rest..we'll figure out what we should do, together," he flashed those words at Heatherkit, "tomorrow." Looking serious, he spoke firmly, indicating that he wouldn't take no for an answer.

Daylight’s gleam forsaken by the stars that held more memories then any one being could retain, encompassed their side of the world and plunged it into that conceding ethereal luminosity. At least many would hope for such. How the spring had bloomed over the land in its unremitting beauty yet it would all fall away as life often did when Green-fall arrived.
Tedious was life, as was death for all inevitable things come into play when you least expect it and no matter how you go about prolonging your existence, demise is right around the corner. But was that not why she existed? To make every moment count? To try as hard as she was able to make sure these cats remained alive and well? And every death that occurred before her seemed like a personal blow even if Starclan simply wanted to bring that cat they'd claimed home. And she couldn't remember when the pain of loss had started that it scared her sometimes.
Such thoughts may appear morbid to those living the life of memories past but what of those who had nothing else to look back to? Had nothing else to look forward to but that all-consuming darkness? To never remember the whisper of their mothers voice or the brush of a siblings coat during a storm?
Facts were not necessarily the most placatory idles but it was information that detained more legitimacy then some cared to confess. The leaves crunched beneath weather-worn paws aching from cold nights and no reprieve. But thankfully the heavy winter's coat she'd developed had already begun to shed the excess hairs until she was constantly preening herself and having to constantly remove the hairs that her tongue collected.
"If this keeps up I'll lick myself bald before Leaf-fall." she chuckled to herself.
It was unmistakable who this cat was, this feline emissary of heart and health. Oceantide, a newly appointed warrior of Lakeclan.
Within the silence of morning moved the willowy figure of the she cat appeared with her thrush. The she-cat moved with a sensual grace and a proud strut in her gait that could only be properly performed by the feline race. Her elliptical fashioned eyes were a diluted oceanic blue, so vivid they seemed to contain the very sea she was named for. Oceantide didn't have many secrets, she had no need for them. What was hers was the clans and she openly welcomed them whenever they needed her aid or advice.
Currently Oceantide carried securely in her mouth a thick fluffy thrush that according to her dirtied silver paws had been a task to attain. The light filtering through the leafy canopy reflected off her silver coat making it platinum and brightening the dappled brown and ebony colored spots that lined her figure. She moved with a jovial bounce, jaunty and always happy to assist but always thinking of the past she'd forgotten. She many qualities that fitted a warrior and her boldness could often be seen as recklessness. But her heart was in the right place and undeterred by doubt.
The spotted she cats face was smeared with blood from her escapade through the forestation but she didn't care. She'd retrieved what she'd gone out to retrieve and was happy about it. The bramble woven entrance to the camp became visible against the unruly vegetation and the she cat hastened forward to deliver her prize to the hollowed log stump and scrambling to dump the avain prey.

[[ stripepaw ]] Blink. Stripepaw was hurling around the camp, in search for her mentor. Somehow, she sensed something going on, something that was disturbing her, and she knew that Cornflower was probably in some sort of crisis. Or maybe, something /had/ gone on, but she probably missed it. Wait a second. Cornflower wasn’t in the camp. No, she was elsewhere, but where? If only the apprentice could catch a whiff of her scent … And right on time, it was. And so Stripepaw followed the trail. Into the borders of the Lakeclan …. Into the forest …. But wait, this was leading her to the Boulderclan. Strange. The atmosphere, was not normal. Stripepaw took a step back. She was lost. Oh great. She peered around, trying to detect some movement or sound, and heard something. Silently, Stripepaw drew closer and received similar scents. But she didn’t go barging in. The cat let out a small sigh of relief, and instinct was telling her to stay back for now. But Stripepaw could hear the conversation. She crawled into a bush and waited, knowing that possibly she might be scolded for this. Probably. But who cares? As long as her mentor was alright. And so the cat waited.

Cornflower’s eyes opened wide and her breath caught in her throat. Could he read her mind or something? ”I’ve considered it…” she mewed evasively, looking at the ground and trying to hide her eyes which were gleaming with the excitement that echoed her thumping heart. It was very true that she’d considered it and many a long night she’d spent awake imagining …but she wasn’t sure if she wanted that responsibility yet. ”Thunderfoot” she said, raising her gaze to equal his, voice steady but whisker tips dancing with the trembling of her body. ”I think I would like to have kits with you one day …but not quite yet. I have an apprentice to train” she told him, licking his muzzle gently with a soft tongue. It was very true; she was being quite a poor mentor and her apprentice Stripepaw deserved a little attention. Opening her mouth briefly she suddenly caught a scent on the air - someone was nearby! Her fur instantly prickling, Cornflower relaxed as she realized who it was. ”Talk of the devil” she muttered to Thunderfoot, grinning, then padded forward and head butted Stripepaw out of the bush. ”Hello Stripepaw; eavesdropping?” she mewed.
Earthstar groaned and began to shred his own paws, the frustration too great to withhold anymore. ”Shut up” he snarled, rising to his paws. He didn’t know for certain but he had the suspicion that Appleblossom could see out of his eyes; and at him at the same time. It was a slightly odd concept but then again you couldn’t call any of this /normal/. He listened to Appleblossom speaking to Shiningfrost …or whoever was controlling her. He felt curious and angry; but Appleblossom seemed wary. A weak spot? ”Scared?” he teased, but not in a jokey way that he had used to tease Snowstar. Not Snowstar he grunted to himself, jerking his focus back to Appleblossom. His words were laced with poison, digging and squeezing their way to fit into the cracks in the solid wall. Two could play at her game. She had won against him, he now knew that Snowstar had never liked him but he could get her back. He was blaming her in a way for what had happened. It was easier than blaming himself.
”Fine” Heatherkit sobbed, padding back to the nursery without even looking at her other three siblings. Suddenly she paused, turned around and began to shriek. ”Be that way then. You guys are weak. You guys are nothing like me. We don’t even look alike! I want Lightningkit - he was brave. He would have come with me!” Her face crumpling, she spun on her paws and raced into the forest. She was going to find this rogue. She would find him! It was true that her siblings were not very similar to her, but there had been no excuse for what she had just done. The stress and pain of loosing her mother had been too great for emotionally over-reactive Heatherkit and she couldn’t stand being in Lakeclan at the moment. She was going, going to get out of Lakeclan for a while …or as long as it took to find the rogue. But first she would stop off a Boulderclan for a helping hand.
Pridekit looked at Lustkit and Falconkit in downright shock. ”Oh” she mewed helplessly, not knowing what to say or what to do.
Scarletfrost looked scathingly at Earthstar/Applestar. ”Oh really” she mewed patronizingly. She had spent too long in the company of Fireclan to learn one lesson. In the two-leg world they called it ‘there’s no such thing as a free lunch.’ ”What do you want Appleblossom?” she sighed, claws digging into the ground. With another sigh she listened to Shiningfrost’s monologue. Oh very noble
she mewed scathingly. Of course not power the Dreamclan medicine cat told the Lakeclan one, changing her plan in a split-second. Merely an alliance with the greatest clan ever to rule the forest. Rolling her eyes, the auburn she-cat looked at Shiningfrost, pelt bristling and tail lashing from side to side. Your beloved Earthstar is not going to die and neither are you so shut up she snapped, temper frayed to danger point. Her face twisted into an unpleasant sneer. Or do you need another little dose of pain to shut you up?

Tell you what, Scarletvixen, you can do anything you want. Ever heard the phrase 'good always triumphs over evil?' It's because the leader and deputy of those evil cats didn't have the brains to suffice a mouse - oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring your mate into this.
She did not smile or frown, merely just stood there listening to Appleblossom. It seemed like, no matter how much she tried to empty her mind, it was useless. Glancing at Earthstar made hot tears appear in her eyes, and the words Scarletvixen had said earlier echoed through her mind. Thunderfoot walked beside Cornflower and began whispering frantically in her ear, then laughed and ran away to leave Stripepaw puzzled. 'You don't train Stripepaw at night, which is why you'll meet me at this spot before moonhigh, and if you're not here you will wake up in an active badger's den.' He snickered as he remembered what he had told her. Appleblossom sighed and stood, biting her lip. "I was wondering, just wondering, why we aren't taking over normal warriors and kits, maybe even apprentices too. I mean, wouldn't they expect us to take over anything but those types of cats? It would help us..." she backed away just a few steps, praying that Scarletvixen wouldn't punish her for her stupidity - she did that a lot in FireClan.

stripepaw. Stripepaw mentally slapped herself. Scent. That should have been anticipated. Cloaking her irritance at her own stupidity with a bark of laughter, Stripepaw let herself be butted out of the bush, with a true grin on her face. ”Yeah,” she replied, when her mentor spoke, dipping her head low in a bow of mock greeting. “But hey, it wasn’t my fault. You went scampering off somewhere without telling me. This should have been counted on.” Though debating on whether or not to press the matter on the conversation she had just heard, Stripepaw decided to see if Cornflower mentioned anything about it and instead said, “So, I’m pretty bored. Are we going to get on with training anytime soon?”
ooc;; Oh wow. This was disgustingly short. xP

Cornflower’s heart fluttered as she heard his last words and a grin to rival the Cheshire Cat’s spread across her face as she turned back to Stripepaw, without a care in the world. ”Of course Stripepaw, my apologies for neglecting my duties as a mentor.” She looked at her apprentice passively, taking in her slim yet large frame and developed muscles, the pricked ears and bright, lively eyes and suddenly thought to herself that it would not be very long at all before Stripepaw became a warrior. ”Stripepaw, you’re coming to the end of your apprenticeship” Cornflower mewed, sounding uncharacteristically grave and serious. Her tail swayed gently from side to side, the golden hairs on it neatly groomed and smooth. She noticed that Stripepaw was also very well groomed and with a pang of guilt figured that this was probably due to lack of things to do. She made a mental note to train her apprentice more …but keep with Thunderfoot too - for as he had said; she didn’t train Stripepaw at night! ”I think that a slightly more unusual lesson is in hand today” she told her apprentice, padding away from her and towards the lake shore, this particular lake called Loch Berry. ”Fishing!” she exclaimed happily, seating herself by the waters edge and snaking her long golden tail around her paws. ”An unusual skill it’s true but when famine strikes the forest and all the mice starve, when blood-eye { mix amitosis } strikes the rabbits and when birds become infested with maggots only you will be able to survive. Because you will be able to fish.” Cornflower surveyed Stripepaw sternly, in the way teachers did when they were lecturing their classes. Stripepaw wasn’t a new apprentice filled with fantasy ideas, she was almost as old as her mentor and deserved to be treated like another warrior; with respect and truth.
”Because dung brain” Scarletfrost sighed, rolling Shiningfrost’s eyes even more to signify her malevolence, ”if we went around controlling every apprentice and kitten a fat lot of good we could do then. There aren’t hundreds of us you know; this lot is all too noble and good for that.” Scarletvixen knew another reason too …but she wasn’t sure she would say it or not. Although Appleblossom had been trusted to control a leader, the Dreamclan medicine cat still unfairly despised her. The reason she was holding on the tip of her tongue was mutiny. Fireclan were an unpleasant and unpredictable lot - that was why they were in Fireclan in the first place. You didn’t go to hell if you weren’t a double-crosser. If all the Fireclan cats took over a clan cat then they would start fighting amongst themselves and bring disorder and disarray, something most despised by Scarletvixen. The auburn medicine cat ground her teeth. Put a mouse in your gob Shiningfrost
Scarletvixen told Shiningfrost irritably. All this good triumphs over evil stuff. It’s very true …in kit stories. But you’re a big girl now Shiningfrost she mewed patronizingly, smirking unpleasantly. And you should learn that evil triumphs over good …as they are doing now. Hearing her last words Scarletvixen’s temper snapped and she put her paw between two rocks and bent it, hearing a satisfying snap. Happy now?

Barkfoot looked round, abso-boolmin'-lootley delighed to see her youngest child. ^^ "Leopardkit! You were asleep so long!" She made no mention of her worry that Leopardkit too had succumbed to the same wasteing sickness that had claimed her sibling. The kits would not know and as a mother she could never tell them. They still thought she was perfect.
Tigerkit and Lionkit looked round in unison. Although the mood was sombre they both cracked into smiles. "Spotty!" they meowed, leaping on to her both together and play wrestling her down. "Great to see you!"

Shiningfrost yelped in pain and grabbed her paw, causing her to collapse to the floor. Such pain, such hatred towards Scarletvixen. She still got up, however, trying to be as strong as she could possibly be before she collapsed. But she could feel it, her body couldn't take this much longer and sooner or later it would have to rest and lay down - even Scarletvixen couldn't control that. "I don't get it, why choose Appleblossom for Earthstar? Oh, does your beloved Silverfang like her, perhaps?" Shiningfrost didn't smile after this, just began praying to StarClan she could get out of this - but something inside her own mind whispered...wait, was that just Scarletvixen? She was confused. Honey, StarClan no longer exists.
Do me a favor, Earthstar. You can either shut up, or I'll make you shut up. We're going back to camp after this, if I'm correct Snowstar will be paying us a little visit soon.
She smiled wickedly and was suddenly very greatful that Earthstar couldn't hear her thoughts, only the other way around. She frowned at Scarletvixen, sighing. "Nevermind, I'm doing it again aren't I?" What 'it' was just happened to be that annoying, mousebrained oddicy that she always showed - and it was obvious that everyone grew sick of it quite easily. She then smiled as she heard an earsplitting crrackkk from Shiningfrost's paw, and it was obvious to a FireClan cat that Shiningfrost was now writhing in pain within her own mind. She smiled, speaking to Earthstar again. You see what she's doing? Shiningfrost asked her to do that, Earthstar, she hates everything she's ever done for you because you never bothered to return the favor, and so she's trying to kill herself through this method. You're right, everyone out there hates you - but Shiningfrost never did, and so when she kills herself we will welcome her with open paws in FireClan. She smiled and looked at Scarletvixen one more time, Appleblossom did. "Scarletvixen? For my benefit, c - could you please do that again?"ooc - i had an idea after this is all over and when shiningfrost goes to starlight lake how about something went wrong with her when FireClan disappeared, and now Shiningfrost has dreams with Scarletvixen instead of StarClan?

stripepaw. ”Of course Stripepaw, my apologies for neglecting my duties as a mentor.” With some satisfaction at hearing those words, and a small boost of readiness, Stripepaw simply nodded. She noted that her mentor was studying her, and kept her expression unreadable. ”Stripepaw, you’re coming to the end of your apprenticeship” Wait, she was? Her expression was of surprise for a bit, but then she thought it out quickly. This was true … Again her mentor’s eyes fell upon her. Stripepaw gave a quick tilt of the head and started after Cornflower when she headed towards Loch Berry. The lesson became clear when the glint of water came into view. Her mentor was speaking again. She was seated and unmoving through at least three quarters of what her mentor was saying, seeing the stern gaze, which was clicking some mischief inside of her, but near the end, the apprentice just darted past Cornflower before she had finished and dived into the water. She appeared back on the surface with a wriggling fish in between both paws. This probably wasn’t the right way to catch a fish, or albeit the way a kit would, but Stripepaw couldn’t help it. The fish, which was smacking the water with it’s tail and sending it flying, was put down and it rapidly swam away. The apprentice was probably going to be punished for this in some way or other, but usually this was how she reacted to the gaze of the lecturing teacher. Now probably most of the fish had swam off.

”Well done” Cornflower mewed sarcastically, but not unkindly, her amber eyes watching every move Stripepaw made carefully. ”You need a little more patience though. Sit very still and very quiet by the waters edge, don’t move. Remember, even though we catch them; we still must respect fish and they aren’t stupid and they aren’t blind. They can see every move than we make and everything that we do so only move when you absolutely have to.” Cornflower stopped to draw breath, still watching Stripepaw for any sign she didn’t understand. ”When they come, angle your paw so it slices through the water like …like your claw slicing through a pigeon when you de-feather it. This will minimize noise and ripples and will enable you to take the fish by some means of surprise. They move so fast so you must be faster. Sink your claws into it and pull; getting the fish out of the water is the most important step for once it is out; it will stop breathing.” Cornflower paused, slightly surprised by how much had come out of her mouth. ”Understand?” she asked her apprentice, grinning broadly.
Shut it about Silverfang
Scarletvixen hissed, withdrawing her paw from the rock and wondering if it had made the slightest bit of difference. ”I don’t think so Appleblossom” Scarletfrost mewed sardonically, looking at the Fireclan cat { or rather - Earthstar } with disdain. It was a little odd speaking into the blank, lifeless eyes of one cat and knowing you were addressing another one completely but it was not hard to speak with malice to Earthstar; in fact, perhaps it was even easier than speaking that was to her ally as in her mind she held Earthstar as one of the cats responsible for destroying her life and succumbing her to the hopeless wreck she was now. ”Now go and lead the clan. Earthstar’ll tell you what needs to be done. For Fireclan’s sake, don’t neglect your duties as leader otherwise cats will think something’s up and we don’t want that…” The Fireclan medicine cat watched Applestar pad away and muttered ”yet” underneath her breath. Then she turned her focus back inside and addressed Shiningfrost again. Why Appleblossom …I’m not too sure. It’s not like she has the brains or anything. I suppose we wanted an annoying cat …a cat who would take every scarp of Earthstar’s focus and twist it, winding him up to such deep, desperate depths that … She paused, grinning wickedly. You can imagine. And you and I can watch him die Shiningfrost she sighed happily. Suddenly a frown marred her features. No wait …not die. You aren’t supposed to die.Earthstar groaned, hearing the monstrous cat who was possessing Shiningfrost speak about him. Poor Shiningfrost ….no - not poor Shiningfrost! It was no more than she deserved, tricking him into believing she liked him all this time. Earthstar’s claws flicked in and out of their furry holders but of course he could not vent their violent energy on anything, only himself and he had not yet sunk to such depths. ”Lionkit, Tigerkit, Leopardkit and Cheetahkit need mentors” he said dully, looking at the floor as though he had lost the will to even raise his head. For it felt like he had, every single thing he had taken for granted { the sun total being two - Snowstar and Shiningfrost } had now been snatched away from him, and the thing he had loved more than the two put together { Lakeclan } was out of his control too …in the paws of this Appleblossom. The only thing he could do was keep it running as best as he could. Even if he was defeated, he would not let Lakeclan; the one and only thing that had supported him through his entire life crumble and fall into disarray! They would remain strong! He raised his head, matted, ungroomed fur falling back down his neck, a defiant fire blazing in his eyes. ”I will fight you” he muttered to Appleblossom, still flicking his claws in out, in out, in out. ”I will fight you, and never give in.”

Ashfeather was out hunting, deep into Lakeclan territory. He padded along, completely unaware of what was happening to his clan mates. He set down the mouse he had just caught a sat resting for a moment, enjoying the soft breeze. His green eyes surveyed the area. Suddenly he heard a russel in the bushes. His grey ears pivoted to catch the sounds. "A rabbit, no doubt." he thought, crouching low and stepping lightly. He seemed to glide across the ground effortlessly, he was sure to make the kill... until he stepped on some dead leaves. Instantly the smoky warrior stopped in his tracks, silently willing the creature he was stalking to be deaf. The noises in the the bushes had stopped for a very brief moment. Ashfeather held his breath. Then a small, grayish brown form exploded from the undergrowth and took off. Cursing himself under his breath, Ashfeather rose and gave chase. The rabbit would dodge in and out of his sight, and once or twice he thought he'd lost it. But then he saw it again, stopping momentarily after the long run. Crouching once again, Ashfeather stealthily crept up behind it. But just as he was about to spring, the animal bounded over to a nearby tree and disappeared into a hole. Ashfeather stood up, disgusted with himself. He had expected a much better performance. As he was sitting there, thinking remorsefully of what a great story this would have been to brag about to his clan mates of he would have caught it, a new scent reached his nose. He lifted his head and took a breath. Dreamclan. He looked over to his right. Yes, it was Dreamclan alright. He'd chased the rabbit all the way to the border. (conitinued on Dreamclan board)

The she-cat spun around and then noticed Barkfoot her mother there."I'm sorry I over slept its just that it was a really good dream and I didn't want it to-"She got cut off as two other kits jumped on her and recognizing them it were just her brothers."Spotty?"She muttered short of breath as she scrambled away from their bodies as she drew for air."So my name is now Spotty and not Lepoardkit anymore?"Not knowing that it was just a nickname her eyes began to swell with tears as she began to cry that she didn't belong to the clan anymore seeing that she didn't have her name anymore. Smokefoot entered camp, two mice held between his teeth. He immediately offered one to Strawkit, Thistlekit, and Coalkit the next to Badgerfur. He would need to hunt more later. Hunger gnawed at his belly, yet a protective urge kept him going, hunting first for his family then for his clan.
Strawkit's eyes grew big at the sight of freshkill, their startling green color seeming to tear through it. "Come-oon Coalkit." she said, tail held very high. Her stride was more of a prance, filled with dignity and grace. She turned her head back, seeing Thistlekit. "Oh." she said, more quietly. Thistlekit had stirred at the sight of food, but had not moved. Turning back, Strawkit trotted back. "Come on Thistlekit!"
No response.
His eyes were cloudy and everyone had known that he was blind at birth. But there was something still wrong about him. He never spoke, other than kit-like whines and squeaks. He didn't respond to anything other than the warm smell of milk. "Come on Thistlekit..." cooed Strawkit, again with no response. She waved her tail in front of his mouth. He clung on automatically with tiny teeth.
***
He couldn't think. The world was an empty, dark abyss. There was nothing. He would not have known that he was born; his life in his mother was much the same in the outside world. Other than scent. The kill he could smell very clearly, yet was not ready to venture out to get it. The world was confusing and impossible to navigate. He could only identify four scents; all making up his family. He knew they wouldn't hurt him. But that was all he knew. His light ash fur ruffled.
Strawkit's tail tickled his nose. Overtime he had come to learn to use her tail like a lifesaver. Clinging on with his teeth, he slowly rose to his feet, moving in rythym with Strawkit. Another meal.
Another day.
Another terror.
