Been hot here, too.. though prolly not as hot as it is down there! I went down there in March and it wasn't too bad.. pretty cool, actually, but I know it get awfully hot!
The worst thing about Wisconsin in summer is the bugs and the humidity. They say it isn't the heat, it's the humidity. Too true!

Yeah....
...I like Point(or is it Cape? It's either Point or Cape) Loma(Or maybe it's Loama... it's near where all the old sea dogs from the war retired) just outside San Diego(across the bay, or something). It's really nice and peaceful there, and there are a lot of cool little tidepools.
Yeah, the only thing I really like about California, besides it not raining 24/7/365, is the beaches.

I HATE THE BEACH! I like the LOOk of the beach and I like taking pictures AT the beach, but I hate BEING IN A SWIMSUIT AT THE BEACH First - it's SALT water, it burns my freshly shaved legs... A LOT
Two - Whenever I get out of the water, I get SAND ALL OVER ME
I like the beach if I don't go swimming. And not only because guys can hit on me >.>

lol I LOVE getting in the water!! I love surfing and boogie boarding. (of course I've only been surfing once) ALthough I don't like being out on the beach in my bathing suit, although I wear boardshorts, and the sand does get abit annoying at times.

I've only ever been to an actual BEACH a couple of times... last March, when it was too cold to actually swim, so we just waded in up to our knees, and when I was too little to be out that far anyway.
But all in all, I like beaches. Especially the dreary ones, with dark sand, cloudy skies, and dark-grey waters and maybe a nice lone gull or two. They're nice and peaceful and very pretty. What I don't like are the beaches where there's a zillion people.. I like nice, quiet beaches With dark sand and.. you get the point.
The only other beaches I've been to are lake beaches.. the beaches 'round Madison are all gunky now and the water's horrible from people dumping stuff in it, but the lakes up north are pretty nice.. despite my hatred of Superior.

Um... oceans ARE salthingyer....
I love swimming. It's the closest I'll probably ever get to flying. And it's an entire other world underwater.... it's so dang cool.
Though I admit, I prefer swimming in a pool than in a lake(especially around here, where even the nicest lakes are really gunky and murky) you never know what's down there in a lake! -shudders-

I agree. I love swimming because it is another dimension. It feels like I'm floating and nothing can get me, kind of like running. Except when I'm in the water, I can't sweat and I never get tired. It's...miraculous
And I REALLY want to use that to begin a story, it would be PERFECT! but I can't think of a story!
I don't want to do pure, pure fantasy like warriors. I don't want anyone calling my books retarded. I don't want it to be one of those 'teen' books, that are filled with fashion and everything because those books have NO flair. I'm kind of interested in stories like the Twilight series, they're interesting...but the two ideas I've come up with so far don't seem very intelligent, it's pissing me off.
Like I would LOVE, and I KNOW I'll do this one day, to begin a book my absolute FAVORITE way. I LOVE it when books start out in something you think is the complete opposite.
If I began a book that said something along the lines of 'I was flying...' blah blah blah, and I didn't imply that I was swimming, wouldn't that be AWESOME? And then, all the sudden, I could say something like: 'I kicked against the ground and flew upward in a surge of power until my head broke through the surface and I inhaled deeply, having the disability to breath underwater.'
SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!!

Yeah! How does this sound?
I was flying, I was within my own mystique world where it seemed not a thing could harm me or damage me in any way. I soared and felt a rushing, cold feeling against my pale skin and began turning, letting swirls of the unimaginable feeling brush against my skin gently to relax my mind and send me into what seemed a nonexistant world. I kicked my legs softly and my cheeks bulged with air as I held my breath; making my way to the bottom of this area. I kicked against the bottom and flew upwards in a surge of power as I looked up above in determination, before my head finally broke through the surface. I inhaled deeply, having the disability to breathe underwater. My cheeks flushed, my eyes bright, I smiled and laughed softly as I floated upon my back and glanced at the sky. It seemed to good to be true that swimming even existed, the feeling was magical.

Twilight.. you mean, as in that rediculous vampire romance trilogy?
All the silly girly eighth-graders in my dance class read those books.. I read the first one, and that was enough.
Yes. That would be the perfect beginning for a story! I had a half-idea one time of writing a collection of short stories, each about some girl who had a great liking for one of my interests. My swimming one would be called Learning to Fly. And this is how it would begin.
I streatched out my arms, tightening them in a streamline above my head, kicking gently at the swirling substance that cooled my legs and my harsh feelings against the world. I pulled my arms to my sides, gaining some extra momentum in the movement and opened my eyes. Swirling mists fell past me, enveloping me like a warm, soft blanket that was thick and cozy, but not clinging, nor heavy. If only I could stay this way forever, here where all worries, challanges, and desires drifted away into the ever-changing mists and left nothing behind except an overwhelming sense of peace, and resiliance. But, being the land-dweller that I was, I knew I could not stay there much longer, and so, lungs bursting with the need for life-giving oxygen, I kicked towards the surface, my hands at my sides, fingers fluttering, as if saying goodbye to the mists and bubbles I left behind me. My head broke the surface and I gasped as the air poured. I could almost feel my lungs ballooning like pumps. Laughing to myself and kicking slowly towards the edge of the pool, I lifted my goggles away from my eyes and peered into the depths from whence I had come. pink and blue light danced on the bottom of the pool, and I spied one of the round yellow porthole-like misty lights that were fastened agains the edge, a few feet underwater. I loved those round lights. They weren't very bright, so you could look right into them, and it almost looked as if... as if it lead to another world. One where nobody but me and my fancy might exist. Call it stupid if you like, but water always made me feel fanciful and dreamy like that.
Long.. I know...
