"Yes. Yes." They had already completed about a third of the patrol, seeing and hearing nothing. "All quiet, then." They were begining to approach Boulderclan borders, but Lilacbalm was still largely uperturbed. Even Boulderclan would not attempt an attack so soon after the unity Driving-Out. Or, she wondered, was that what they wanted Lakeclan to think. Then again, most of the Boulderclan cats seemed deccent sorts, similar to Lakeclan really. The same. Probably the usual cat-in-the-clearing would not want to launch an attack. A squirrel chattering in the trees above broke her reverie, and she realised she had been silent for a good ten minutes.

Nightfire looked up as the fish swam away.Who could that be?She growled to herself and then whipped around to see Earthstar."Ohh umm just out catching prey for the clan Ear-Earthstar."She managed to stumble those words out with a few chocking sounds. She sounded as if she were talking to a huge lion or a StarClan cat that she did not know off."Why is something the matter with fishing? If there is then I w-wo-won't fish then although its one of my good things."
ooc-Poor Nightfire getting picked on.

Blinking weary sleep from his sharp, golden eyes, Eagletalon squinted, in the beginnings of a well-earned stretch when he remembered that Tigerlily still lay asleep beside him, breathing deeply. Stopping, he got up to his paws slowly as to not disturb his mate. Sitting down on his rump, he gave himself a halfhearted wash before getting back up, giving one last look at Tigerlily before stalking out of the nursery with tail held high. Once out, he glanced up at the sky, growling lowly. What fine weather we have today. Shaking his pelt with irritation, a rumbling in his stomach reminded himself of how hungry he was; at this, he padded up to the fresh-kill pile, grabbing a thrush. Remembering that his mate would need something to eat herself, he grabbed a plump mouse by the tail, trotting back to the nursery and nosing inside. Placing the mouse by her, she arose, nostrils flaring as if the scent of mouse had awakened her. "Is that for me?" she mewed, glancing at it askance. "Of course." Nudging her with his muzzle, he didn't leave until she took a bite. Again out in the open, he let out a sigh. "We could do with nicer weather."

.:Earthstar:. "Well get away" he said, trying not to look at the small but substantial pile of sleek, silver fish the Lakeclan warrior had caught. "Go on - back to the clan with you, and bring your fish." His voice had softened slightly but you still couldn't describe it as 'nice.' But Earthstar had other reasons for taking Nightfire and himself back to camp as well as not trying to appear suspicious and foolish for acusing the warrior and then leaving her be. It was the gathering tonight and all the cats must go as it was the first gathering since the huge dog attack. He was sure that he would find very different cats standing around the hollow, the surviviors somewhat tougher, and older but plenty of new cats enlisted from far and wide to help the clans get through. And there was an apprentice to appoint a mentor to - Stripepaw this time. He scowled slightly, how quickly time seemed to rush - he remembered calling out the words Lilacpaw and appointing Lilacbalm her mentor, he, Shiningfrost, Cornflower and Heatherpaw had all been apprenticed together. He closed his eyes slightly, pretending to the warrior still trotting at his side that he was simply savouring the atmoshpere when instead he hung his head in sorrow. Earthstar was a changed cat too. Now - he thought before he acted....most of the time. He didn't let greif and self-pity drive him to extremes....most of the time and he didn't snap as much....a very small portion of the time. He had not changed much. "Get in" he barked to Nightfire, pushing her into the camp as if she were a kit. The apprentice could wait until after the gathering, without a word he strode past him. "Uh...Badgerfur, Echowhisper, Nightfire, Arouraspirit, Cornflower, Shiningfrost, Lilacbalm and uh...Hyperspirit" he said clearly, his voice falling away at the latter cat. He was gone again. What sort of a deputy was he! And Lilacbalm too...grinding his teeth Earthstar looked around, wanting to take a nice army as usual. "Spellcaster - you come" he barked and without another word wheeled round and began bounding from the camp, his long tail signalling for all to follow.
.:Cornflower:. With just a flick of her long tail, Cornflower acnoledged her name being called - it had not surprised her. She was modest although she had to admit she was a pretty steady warrior that could always be releied on. But she was loyal to her friends too and Shiningfrost looked a bit preoccupied so she would stay in camp and wait. "Nightfire" she mewed up to her sister who had just entered camp carrying several large fish. "Save me a place" she said cheekily and then sat back down, observing Shiningfrost mildly through her washed out eyes.
.:Walnutkit:. The brown kit stared enviously at the cats as the filed from the camp. "Soon" he muttered to himself. "Soon it'll be me." Everything suddenly seemed quiet and boring and Walnutkit looked up at the moon which was bathing everything in a milky glow and wished for clouds to obscure it. From Lakeclan camp you could just about hear shouting in the gathering but Walnutkit was not content with this. But sneaking out to go to the gathering - was NOT something he was going to do. With his apprentice ceremony so near anything could make his loose this fantastic chance. It wasn't as if there was nothing to do in the nursery - Bankfoot had just had a fine litter but to Walnutkit they were just wailing scraps of skin - no fun at all. Every time he tried to poke them or make them play he was scared off by either Bankfoot or Echowhisper the father. Tigerlilly was also expecting kits but when they came along they would be no better. But if he became an apprentice.... His green eyes lit up with adventure but he pushed it down angrily, no fantasicing - he might go and do something bad which would take away the only chance he was going to get for a long while...

Lilacbalm glanced up at the sky. The moon was almost full. It must be time for the gathering. I might not go. She thought. There's no particular reason for choosing me. She looked back at Hyperspirit. But he has to, being deputy. She stopped, and flicked her head upwards, gestusturing to the swollen moon. "Best be getting back. We've done half the boundries anyway."

Spellcaster nodded zealously, happy to finally be noticed by Earthstar. Rather shocked, she ran after Earthstar, wanting to make a good impression on the ancient leader.{I know Earthy isn't that old, she's just exaggerating.) After all, if she wanted to be deputy....
Hyperspirit coughed. "What say we go over to Crow's hill, Lilacbalm? Boulderclan territory has been checked, might aswell check out the sights and the such while we're here, right?" Hyperspirit reasoned, wanting to escape the Voice. It was driving him to do things... he did not like. It was driving him mad. {Short. I'm busy. So its short, aye.}

The Gathering! Whirred Lilacbalm's busy brain. We'll miss it. We'll be fast. She reasoned. Besides, we didn't stick by the rules last time. And look where it got us! Half drowned with some mad prophesy in our heads. Half drowned - with Hyperspirit. She drove her paws suddenly into the ground, shocked that she had even thought that. She focused her whole attentions on moving forwards, ascending the rise of the Hill. "Yes," she called back, keeping her voice flat and steady. "We can take in the view."

Hyperspirit coughed. "Your thinking about the Gathering, aren't you, love?" He coughed again. "After what I'm going to do, I won't be going to any gatherings." He mewed slowly. "You see, ever since I was a kit, there was a Voice in my head. It asked me to do things, it did things I didn't want to do. That's why I missed the battle. Because of it. It urged me to avenge my parents, to kill cats I knew and loved, it tried to change me. Over time, the Voice.. it has grown stronger, and my willpower.. weaker. I'm desperately trying to keep sane at this point, but I know, any time soon, I'll snap." He explained, knowing he was laying himself bare to her inspection. Who cared, anyway? He was going to let himself die, before he let that Voice take him over. He wasn't going to be driven insane.

Lilacbalm's ginger eyes opened slowly in horror. "Wait... what do you mean, no more Gatherings?" She moved closer, staring searchingly into is eyes, trying to detect the Voice that must be lodged behind them. They were dull gold, a colour almost lost in the fading cloudy light. She noticed the web of fine worry lines stretching away from the corners, then looked away, worried and embarrased. She shook her head, and looked over at Boulderclan stretching away below them from the top of the rise. The full meaning of his words had still not penetrated, her mind was only confused. "What will you do?"

"You'll see soon enough, Lilacbalm, you'll see soon enough." He whispered, nodding. He watched her closely, coughing once more. She seemed.. worried. Worried? Why? He was a tiny bit shocked by this discovery, but he knew what had to be done. He knew he had to die. He knew he had to die soon. Very soon. He wasn't going to be controlled any longer, he wasn't going to have to listen to what that d**n Voice was going to say. He was going to live, eventhough he would have no life within him. "Maybe, it would have turned out different, y'know, if it wasn't here, it it hadn't tortured me for so long, it would have turned out different. But knowing I'm going to gone, I'll have to say its just an insane cat's fantasy. It would have been different, if the voice hadn't been here, it would have been different." He rambled on, coughing. Hyperspirit licked her on the cheek once, smiling at her. "G'bye now." He coughed, apparently okay with the fact that he would die. And he jumped. He didn't let out a scream, he didn't say anything. He just fell, eyes close, his paws held at his chest. He was so calm.. it was kind of creepy. He felt the wind in his face. The strong wind. It was a sensation to die for. He fell straight onto a sharp rock, impaling himself on it. He didn't mind. Everything started to go red, He felt weaker... He couldn't move, everywhere felt.. stiff. He smiled weakly, about to whisper something. His heart had stopped functioning. He only had a few seconds left. But on his face, was an expression almost angelic. And that was the death, of dear old Hyperspirit.

Ooc: You know, I am actually quite sad. I mean, he's a charactor from a roleplay but... *sniff*...
Bic: Lilacbalm stared down, shocked. "But.." she rasped, mouth as dry as sandpaper. "Hyperspirit." And the worst thing was that she hadn't even guessed that he was going to jump. She made her way on trembling paws to the edge and stared over. His body was gradually being saked by an ineroxable tide of blood but his face, held higher on the curve of the rock that had killed him, looked happier than she had ever seen it. It looked at peace. She leaned over further, calling out to eas she was certain could not hear her. "But Hyperspirit. I loved you." Then she realised she was slipping. She yowled and screeeched as blind panic gripped her, eclipsing all other feelings of tenderness and geif. She swung back round, a clumsy turn thatdrove her farther over, paws scrabbling at the earth and to safety. But the occasion had overwhelmed her and the usually agile paws skidded ad slipped until they left the face of the rock altogether. Spinning over and over she clattered to the floor below, until her young life was snuffed out like a candle on a jagged rock below.

{Aye. There's still abit of grief. I killed him once before, so I don't really feel sad.) (Alot of errors in my last post, but I was so absorbed in writing his death.)

Ooc: No worries! I make mistakes all the time anyway.
As for Lilacbalm's death, up to about the minute I typed it I didn't know what she was going to do. She didn't seem the ype to actually jump off after him, but I couldn't see how she could go on after loosing him. To make her have an accidental death was therefore the asy compromise I arrived at.

{Ahh. Want to roleplay Echowhisper x Barkfoot? Since your own, aye.) (I knew Hyperspirit would receive death peacefully. He wouldn't cry, or ask for a second chance. He knew he had to go, and he went.)

Ooc: Sure! As for Lilacbalm, she didn't really get the time to be afraid.
Bic: Barkfoot rolled over in the den and looked up blearily as the sound of distant but frenzied yowls met her ears. She turned back to the kits, who were starting to stir, not so much because of the noise but because of their mother's unease. Barkfoot tipped her head back to see Echowhisper, and her mouth cracked up into a smile as it always did when she saw him. She looked down again at the five fluffy creatures swarming around her stomach. THey were so beautiful. Her first litter. Another glance at Echowhisper. She was so proud.
Ooc: When do kittens open their eyes? These kits are a week old, just wondering if you knew what they could do.
