Maplepaw's amber eyes suddenly caught the movements of Dovepaw. She giggled at his antics. Then whispered to Onionpaw "What do you think of Dovepaw?" she asked, hoping the answer would be something positive. She was eager to invite Dovepaw over to join them... since he had nothing else to do, of course. (Suuurrre, Maplepaw..)

..:Aquapaw:.. Aquapaw bowed his head to Mudclaw and trudged off mumbling beneath his breath. "Bring queens fresh kill....Worry about that later..." He had to admit he did feel a little let down he thought being an apprentice would be much more fun then feeding perfectly capable cats who could just get it theirselves. He thought they'd start with the harder stuff first.Shaking his head he grabbed two mice from the fresh-kill pile at least she said we'd head off soon and padded over to the nursery. He gave the queens their fresh kill and bowed in respect before leaving. Quickening his pace he went and sat outside the camp entrance waiting for Mudclaw.

ooc-- Ahh…Cinderkit’s spazzing up! I feel like Otterfur; wth should I do? xxxD
”Not as much as you do I suspect” Onionpaw laughed, answering Maplepaw’s second question with a twinkle in her eyes. ”Don’t screw up” she whispered out of the corner of her mouth, grinning with laughter then raised her head slightly so her line of vision reached further back across the camp. ”Hey Dovepaw; wanna patrol?” she called, looking at Maplepaw and stifling another laugh. It was very unlikely that Sandfire would take out three apprentices on a patrol but maybe she would train them or something; or maybe she’d just ignore them and take out some other warriors. Sitting back on her haunches she licked and white and black paw and drew it over her face, feeling her whiskers spring back into place as she released the pressure of her paw-pads. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Aquakit and felt a stab of pity that the kitten hadn’t been made an apprentice yet. But she would soon and soon get to live the excitements she and her friends were experiencing. It was worth the wait!
Otterfur bent close to Cinderkit, extremely worried. What was she supposed to do in situations like this. She raised her brown head and looked around, seeing only small plants, shrubs and the bank of a lake. She could run back into camp and fetch Fishfeather …maybe that’s what she would do. But Cinderkit had said ”I want my mommy” and there was nothing Fishfeather could do about a lonely heart. The words replayed over and over again in the young Sunclan she-cats mind, haunting her to the very bone marrow. However much she cared for the kitten it would never be good enough, Cinderkit would always want more than Otterfur could ever give her. Why not give up now before she opened the raw wound even further. ”I’m taking you to Fishfeather” she grunted, picking up Cinderkit as gently as she could but not as gently as usual as her whole body was shaking with sadness and frustration. Padding back into the Sunclan camp she tried not to catch any of the others eyes to avoid prying questions about what she was doing with a trembling kit in her jaws. ”Fishfeather” she muttered, looking at the ground; but loudly so the medicine cat could sense the note of urgency in her voice and come at once.

Sandfire looked over her shoulder and smiled suddenly, bad thoughts banished by her affection for her little forthright apprentice. A cat after her own heart. "Sure you can!" she purred. "But we're going to leave now, we've delayed enough already. Let's do the Dreamclan border shall we." (It would be very quiet along the Dreamclan border she knew so there was no chance of them getting into trouble in their disadvantaged position.) She set off briskly through the dying grass towards the mountains. From here they looked just like a purple smudge across the sky. It might take them the best part of a sun to make this patrol.
Silverfang steps closer to Skystar, leaping up onto the highrock. That action, one he was never rightfully able to perform sends a shudder of anger pulsing from his ghostly body. He is uncertain as to whether the other cat has felt it but decided it does not matter. His anger will make this easier, and so will the pride, even though justly earned, that Skystar feels at initiating this new apprentice. He raised a claw and scratched Skystar lightly on the ear to attract his attention. "You know me?" he breathes.

Cinderkit felt sick, she felt her stomach bubbling and her entire body on fire. She screamed as she heard Otterfur's words, even though they were just requesting Fishfeather, and she hung onto the she-cat's front paw with her sharp, miniscule claws. "Don't leave me!" She yelped, burying her head into the leg so that she could cry furiously from the pain. But eventually she slumped, feeling herself weak and exhausted. "My...stomach...head..." She whimpered, sniffing again.

ooc-Stormphrax Skystar isn't on High Branch anymore.XD But I'll live.
bic-Riversong glanced around as the gathering began to break up.Shrugging she looked at Sandfire and mewed "Anything I can do Sandire?"She swished her blue tail around and waited for a reply from the deputy. Sunset looked as one of her clan mates left.Shrugging she stood up and padded over to Maplepaw and mewed "Maplepaw have you seen Moongaze anywhere?I can't seem to find him."Her head turned around and she looked around the almost empty camp but coulnd't find him. Skystar bunching up his muscles was about to jump down and then felt something on his ear.He spun around with his claws out but saw nothing but air and the rest of his camp.I think I've eaten too much fresh kill.He thought to himself but then heard a voice in his ear and his fur stood on end.He then mewed "Who's there!Show yourself!"His claws were now ready for anything and so was he.
ooc-I'm thinking maybe Sunset could like enter FireClan or something like that and something happen to her as well as one other cat from each clan sort of like the new prophecy except that they might not come back. How about that? [/size]

It almost felt good to be on this earth once more, but she knew that it wasn't quite the same when she was alive; her heart beating, muscles rippling under her smooth pelt, her devious, thoughtful mind coming up with things most vile and cruel. That, however, was long past and behind her. Right now, she had a duty to her new Clan, the Clan that would arise and be exalted, be feared by all cats young and old--FireClan. Unseen to any cat, Rosethorn gracefully ran through the terrain, her malevolent deep yellow eyes glinting in ill-willed intentions as she followed the deputy of SunClan. Sandfire would be under her control, and there would be nothing--absolutely nothing--that the she-cat could do about it; she would thrash and lose sanity under her paws, feel pain beyound pain that she ever knew, feel grief and sorrow and agony that felt past the boundaries of realism. Purring in twisted delight, she sighed in mock amusement at apprentice and mentor. "How sweet... Too bad I'll have to rain on their parade." Mrrowing under her breath, she gliding alongside Sandfire, smirking innocently and meeting her gaze almost pleasantly, seen to only the daughter of the leader. "My, Sandfire. You've grown and prospered! Daddy must be proud of you." Baring her teeth in what appeared to be a smile, she purred gleefully.

Maplepaw was both alarmed and happily surprised at the same time. "Onionpa-aw!..." was all she managed to get out, along with a nervous laugh. "Thanks a lot." she muttered under her breath in a friendly, sarcastic way. She didn't know why she suddenly felt this way about Dovepaw all of a sudden- it just sort of... happened. She barely even knew the cat for heaven sakes! She cast a sidelong glance at Onionpaw, a small smile crossing her face as she plotted to find out if her friend had any affections for a tom herself, and do the same for her. Of course, she didn't mean it in a mean way, just playfully. Suddenly she jumped at Sunset's voice. "Oh! Um- hi Sunset! Moongaze? Um, he was there a second ago... he must be around here someplace..." she mewed awkwardly, caught by surprise in an awkward moment.

”Moongaze” piped up Onionpaw, grinning from ear to ear at her friends look of embarrassment. ”He’s over there” she mewed, pointing with her long white and black studded tail to the corner of camp where the grey warrior was chewing a pigeon absentmindedly, half a wing poking from the corner of his mouth. ”Okay!” she mewed excitedly to Sandfire, using the very common word as a statement rather than an answer. ”C’mon Maplepaw, Dovepaw” she called and followed Sandfire from the camp. It was good to get out and about, to feel the wind in her fur and the grass beneath her feet again. There was just something wrong, something making the back of her neck prickle and the hairs all down her tail stand on end. Something that made the birds in a nearby tree hold their beaks together in silence, leaving an eerie space where the noise had been. Something that was bad, very bad, creeping, deceiving, and sneaking. Something treacherous, counterfeit, illusionary… She just wished she knew what it was.
”You’ll be fine with Fishfeather” Otterfur snapped back, turning on her tail and padding back through camp, unsure of where she was going or what she was going to do there. She had no siblings to share feelings with, no mate to share-tongues or flirt with, no apprentice to train. She had no one, not even Cinderkit any more. Sitting down in a dark, secluded corner of camp, Otterfur watched the life of the clan cats slip by beneath her eyes. Sandfire taking apprentices out on patrol. Moongaze fawning over Sunset. Aquapaw fetching fresh-kill for the needy. She felt lonely. Perhaps she should try and make it up to Cinderkit …but not now. She didn’t think she could face it at the moment.

Sunset followed the apprentice's tail toward where Moongaze was.She smiled and mewed "Thank you Onionpaw."She smiled at the apprentice and then padded away toward the fresh kill pile and mewed from behind him "Hey Moongaze.Where have you been I've been looking for you."She walked around him and looked at him with concern in her eyes.

Cinderkit heard those words, though barely, and felt herself fall to the floor roughly as Otterfur left her. She sat there shivering terribly, feeling cold and alone. Fishfeather was nowhere to be seen, and she though that all of the body heat she owned had escaped her. Her nose felt clogged up, her eyes felt glued shut, and her body felt frozen. She then, slowly and painfully, began feeling some kind of sticky substance - snot, or drainage maybe? - clogging up her throat. She tried coughing, but this just made her tired and it made everything worse. She coughed and coughed, trying to find some air she could breathe but kit need more throat space so that they can breathe properly, whereas with warriors it doesn't matter. She felt her vision fade and she coughed one last time before passing out.

Aquapaw Aquapaw paced back and forth impatiently waiting for Mudclaw.Plopping on the ground he began to kneed his paws in the ground. He was very impatient today or rather over-excited. Searching for his brown mentor Aquapaw spotted Otterfur alone and secluded to herself.Debating with himself he decided to go see her, after all Mudclaw wasn't there and it wouldn't do him harm to talk to a sensible cat who wasn't frolicking like love struck yearlings with eachother.Padding across the clearing he thought of what to say and before he knew what he was saying words started flowing from his mouth. "Hiya Otterfur, watcha doing?" He asked plolitely.

Maplepaw gave Onionpaw an indignant look, then padded off after her.The forest air was crisp and clear, and the smell of the soft soil encircled the cinnamon apprentice as she padded along. She took a deep breath, drinking in the smells of the forest surrounding her. Her amber eyes reflected the green canopy as she looked up to see the sunlight filtering through the leaves, causing many different shades of green. To and outsider it would have seemed like a perfect day in Sunclan's territory. Suddenly Maplepaw stopped and stood with her head cocked to one side. "Something's missing..." she said, standing rooted to the spot and casting her gaze about the forest. There was definitely something missing.. but what? Only a Sunclan cat would have noticed it... "Something seems... weird." Maplepaw breathed, feeling slightly uneasy now. But this was just silly- she must be imagining things... or did Onionpaw notice the change too?

The loamy soil of the woodlands bent beneath the weight of a slender silhouette, thin and maladapted paws sinking into the unfamiliar earth leaving bright spots of blood and a clear path of scent behind. Roughened pads, which were unused to this gentle treatment, torn by the unrelenting sting of the arid desert he'd fled from, became grateful for the hydrated land in which he now resided.
A peaceful cadence of motion carried him across the forested earth but peace was not something the feline contour easily acquired. "Leopardstar, I'm hungry." How much longer was he going to endure this whining before he finally snapped and dismembered the creature who's plaintive cries continued to berate his aching, tattered ears? "I know Dewkit." he said resignedly. The voice calling out to him seemed so far and distant now.
The warrior that had been addressed walked lethargically along the rain-moistened trail his lethargy apparent in the sway of his steps and the exertion his facial features conveyed. Gritting his chipped teeth together and relishing the sensation caused as they ran forcefully along one another as he instilled the calm that he'd been forced to produce the day he'd fled from the desert plateaus. The forest was abating and succumbing to the consummation of a vast green meadow, which sent an unwanted wave of ambiguity through his already empty stomach making him all the more nauseas.
His opalescent copper stare flitted over the surroundings beseechingly, requesting a more sheltered area to move across and inwardly knowing there would be no such refuge for them. Why was he stilling thinking that this journey devised of more cats then himself? He cringed before setting a provisionally placed paw into the open and ducking his head to peer into the meadow for threats. "Leopardstar,I'm thirsty too." The voice sent a jolt of surprise through him and the tom went rigid with fear before realization dawned on him long enough to quell the emotion. The same reedy voice calling out to his ears pressed resolutely against his furred cranium as if that would diminish the volume of the voice behind him. 'Stop calling to me.' he hissed inwardly trying to forget the call.
He could still see him there, striding with an equivalent listlessness as himself. Slim, tired and too little to be traveling so far. Which was exactly why the cub was dead. Yes he was haunted, a specter that attached itself to him since his death."I know you are Dewkit."Leopardstar growled again his patience waning with the invisible cat trotting at his flank. 'Geez, he was so snnoying even Starclan didn't want him.' The male mused cruelly and felt a a great deal of remorse for thinking it.
The sunlight flickered through the treetops and its expert rays flashed over him as he entered the meadow. His pelage hugged his sashaying hips and shoulders superbly, completely exaggerating the masculinity of his slight figure as he padded warily into view. The majority of his tapered figure was diluted butterscotch yellow that brought the milky appearance of his amber eyes into an exotic copper.
Swiveling furred labrums was basic, uncomplicated ebony that encompassed the majority of his cranium only receding at his muzzle. His black cap drew into a thin line of black strands that coursed down his malleable spinal column and down his tail that was heavily speckled with black spots as well. Each slender leg was socked with black fur giving his frame a foreign appearance. Even now he could see him, the little spotted kit with downy white fur that had been all he'd had left. Bright blue eyes caring and worried. And gradually dying."Leopardstar where's mama?"Dewkit called sullenly, the same words the kit had spoken the night he'd died and the toms irate stare rounded on him.
All the anxiety, fear and animosity erupted to the forefront and placed on the undeserving. "Tealfur is dead!" he snapped and instantly sobered, the raw anguish back. "And you are too Dewkit." he whispered dejectedly. Whatever relentlessly followed the rogue leader halted, staring at him with wide tearful eyes of disbelief before fading into the background to leave him alone for another night of sorrow.
A pang of guilt severed Leopardstar's mood and he growled, swinging himself away. Their clan had been forsaken. A flood swept most of the camp away into the rivers and the rapids had swallowed most cats. They had escaped and he had to assume other had as well but so far they'd not seen hair or hide of any of them. Dewkit had been the very last he'd seen. The last cat of his clan that had been too young to survive and had died weeks after rescuing him.from a floating log.
The tom walked for what seemed like eons before the border of Sunclan invaded his sense. Now how was an ex-leader supposed to confront another clan?

"Wha--" began Dovepaw, startled, but regaining composure. He blinked and flinched, as though be awakened from a daydream which had been the case. "Oh. Patrol. Sure." he said lamely, mind still furiously racing to get up to speed. "Why?"
Finally catching up and becoming fully alert, he realized the stupidness of the question. Why? That was a mental question. It was an invitation. Coverup, Coverup! "I mean, will we be hunting or what?" he asked quickly. Ugh. Hunting. It was too... precise.
***
Mudclaw padded up to the entrance of the camp, eyeing her apprentice as though sizing her up.
"Alright. You decide. What do you want to do first?" she asked, unsure of whether it was what normal mentors did.
