Skystar looked around at his clan. All was good.Sighing he padded from his den looking at the new beginnings. He lifted his head to StarClan and thanked that not many members left him.He then jumped onto High Branch and yowled "May cats old enough to catch their own pray gather beneath High Branch for a clan meeting!" He waited a bit but then continued "Two of our apprentices need new mentors.Maplepaw your new mentor will be Moongaze.Creepingpaw your mentor shall be Otterfur. He paused and watched as the two new mentors touched noses with the apprentices.
He then continued "Pinekit please come forth. You have reached your 6th moon and accourding to the warrior code you are ready to become an apprentice.Pinekit untill you have earned your warrior name you shall be called Pinepaw.Sunset you are ready for an apprentice I hope you will pass down all you know to this young apprentice."
Sunset padded up to Pinepaw and touched noses with the young apprentice and then sat down proudly.

;;littlewind ooc - two moons later? alright
bic - Littlewind, within the nursery and snoozing deeply, had missed every bit of this information. Though she probably would've liked to hear it, every single moment of the passed half-moon had been spent in slumberland for Littlewind. Every step she took, every move she made seemed to send her into exhaustion, and she was beginning to grow tired of it. The she-cat looked almost dead, the lonely and single one within the nursery's depths - besides Cinderkit, of course. The slow uprising of her stomach seemed rythmic, but her incredibly large stomach made in umistakingly obvious she was carrying kits - to those with intelligence it would mean more than two kits. Everything seemed so utterly peaceful with the bear finally gone - but only two cats knew how and what killed it. She didn't care, all she cared about was her soon-to-be born kits, and her beloved mate Lionmane. The night was quiet, the sun had just set over the horizon and some were beginning to lay down on their nests, ready to sleep. Just as the night was its quietest, a scream echoed through the emptiness. Littlewind let out a blood-curling caterwaul as her stomach lurched: she sprawled out and tightened her eyes from the unbearable pain, biting back sobs. Her stomach moved up and down heavily, her breathing matching it as well. 'Lionmane,' was all she could think. 'Lionmane, come help me, rescue me!'

Skystar watched the apprentices and then continued on "The gathering is coming up.The cats I shall take is Sandfire,Moongaze,Sunset,Fishfeather,Pinepaw,Maplepaw and Creepingpaw." He then jumped down from the branch and padded toward the nursery and mewed "How's it going Littlewind?Hopefully Lionmane will come back."

Dovepaw's paws lashed at the ground, claws unsheathed and tearing pointlessly at the upturned dirt. A snarl pulled at his mouth as he sprinted over to Skystar, frustration screaming to be released. "SKYSTAR! I WANNA GO! Plleeeeaaaassseee!" he begged, bouncing around his mentor. With a sudden flash, agony split through his shoulder. He gave a sharp hiss, digging his claws into the ground as he fought the pain. After the spasm passed, his breath ragged, he was determined to continue his plea. "It's not fair!" he snarled, trying to stop cringing. Fishfeather"Dovepaw, wait! You're--" mid-way through the Medicine Cat's sentence, the apprentice was out of the den and across the clearing. Yet as a shrill scream crushed the air, Fishfeather was provided with enough stop worrying about the Apprentice's injury. "Littlewind..." came his hiss of surprise. There never was a good time to have kits, but it constantly appeared to be a bad time. Stuffing his mouth with a leaf fully of poppy, he manuevered his way around the camp as quickly as possible without dropping the seeds. "It's alright Littlewind!" he cried when he entered the den. "It'll be okay. Measure your breathing, it's okay, your kits, your beautiful kits are coming. If you can stomache it, eat these seeds. Only two or three, we can't risk you being knocked out. It's okay, it's okay..." One of the downsides to being a male male medicine cat was the uncomfortable lack of consolation and experience he had with delivering kits. His female mentor found it unnecessary to polute his mind with the info, thereby leaving him helpless when the mentor passed away.

;;littlewind Littlewind could barely hear Fishfeather's words, there was buzzing in her ears and she was sure that the world could hear her heart pounding. She felt her vision fading, but when she ate the supplied seeds for her - with difficulty of course. She took a deep, shuddering breath as tears ran down her cheeks and she breathed as slowly as she could - but it was still an abnormal speed. After about half an hour Littlewind had three beautiful and handsome kits by her side, and she managed to purr above her exhaustion. One was a tortoiseshell-and-black tom, one was a ( however meow would describe it ) tom, and a beautiful silver-and-brown she-cat. Littlewind didn't want to sleep even if she could, the pain was still in her abdomen as her breathing slowed.

Sandfire listened intently to Skystar’s words. In the two months after her ordeal with the bear the firebrand she-cat had mellowed somewhat. She watched every movement of Skystar’s mouth and paws, wondering. Did he know? She thought. Could he know? The sudden loss of the cat she’d abruptly realised had feelings for her had finally pierced the thick shell she hadn’t even realised was closed around her heart and she had began to notice, really notice the way things were. All her contemporaries had mates or even kits. She was sure now too, that the only family she had left could not recognise her. So she had thrown herself into all that she did wit a different type of passion, devoting herself completely to her clan. Which was why she was still up to date with all the clan news, acting as a second memory bank for the leader. She stepped up gracefully, and guided Skystar away from the screams and yowls emanating from Littlewind’s den. “What of the contest of apprentices? Fishing, Hunting, Fighting, Seeking and Tree-Climbing I believe. I suggest we enter them all.”

”Wow” Otterfur mewed, leaning down {although not very far} to touch noses with Creepingpaw. ”How do you do?” She had never expected getting her own apprentice so soon into her warrior years …in fact - if someone had told her last Moon-Rise that she would be receiving an apprentice in less than 24 hours she would have scoffed them openly. It certainly made a change from the kitten Cinderkit that she had been looking after. Otterfur suddenly remembered how she had made friends slowly with the adopted kitten and felt a pang of guilt. She would go and visit the kitten soon enough. ”So Creepingpaw…” Otterfur mewed, looking at her new apprentice. ”Anything particular you want to…” She broke off, looking at the high-rock. It seemed Skystar was about to speak again.
Moongaze hardly knew what to say. This was his dream - to be receiving an apprentice with his mate Sunset. As well as wanting to prove himself to the clan like all the warriors did by having an apprentice, he also wanted this time to grow closer to Sunset and to bond with her more closely. ”How’re you doing Maplepaw” he mewed, looking at the she-cat. He vaguely remembered that she had been in some way involved in the bear attack, the horrific accident that had bought the already tightly-knit Sunclan into an even closer pack. He remembered how they had all thought their deputy, Sandfire was lost but had all been jubilant as she returned. However he didn’t know what had happened to the bear. Where had it gone? It was probably dead…hopefully anyways. Moongaze didn’t really mind although it was not easy to forget. He nuzzled Sunset to let off some of his glorious feeling then looked back at Maplepaw, grinning broadly. ”You don’t mind training with Pinepaw do you?”
Onionpaw watched the apprentices get their mentor, one of them new, the other two simply inexperienced. She then looked at her mentor, the shadow of the naïve, slightly loopy cat she had once been. Sandfire had aged hugely during her flight from the bear and the dalmation apprentice wasn’t sure who she liked best - the Sandfire of the past, or the Sandfire now. But anyways - she was still Sandfire, and still her mentor. About to ask a question about training, Onionpaw froze as she heard the words the orange deputy mumbled to Skystar, the clan leader. The apprentice contest! She had forgotten! ”Please Starclan, let me be in it” she mewed aloud, although her paws tingled with a sense of worry and competitiveness. What would she do…Hunting…no - she wasn’t too good at that, Fishing…never had any practice, Seeking…she supposed she would be okay but that was known as the soft option, Tree-Climbing…no good, she didn’t like heights and Battling…well - who really knew how good she was in comparison. That is - if she was chosen at all.

"Yes the contest.Well for the seeking one we will need a somewhat good apprentice in hiding. As for the others we will test them.Could you gather up all the apprentices for that for me please Sandfire and bring them right there."He mewed pointing to a place behind the branch.
Sunset looked at Pinepaw and mewed "You would be good in the seeking game.Your small and probably fast."She then looked up at Moongaze and mewed "Well I'm off to show the territory to young Pinepaw here.Meet you at the training hollow."

Maplepaw beamed broadly as she replied "No, of course I don't mind. It'll be fun!" she added, looking to Pinepaw with a smile. Although Her focus on Pinepaw was brief. She was eager to train with her new mentor, Moongaze. Suddenly as she looked at him she once again seemed to hear the bear's mighty roaring as it scarred her clanmates and the forest itself. Darness set in upon her and she seemed to be floating in an abyss of darkness with the horrid sounds of battle ringing in her ears. The moaning of dying and injured cats seemed to engulf her... Squeezing her eyes tightly shut, she sat a moment and gulped in a few deep breaths to calm herself. Finally the noises died away, her head cleared and she returned to the clamour of excited apprentices. Listening in on a nearby apprentice's coversation, she managed to glean what all the hububb was about. The apprentice contest! Instantly she sat at attention. Would she be chosen to compete? In what contest? Hunting? Fighting? Tree-climbing? Seeking? Who knew? She would just have to wait and see... And then the gathering! To finnaly be able to go to a gathering! With a new mentor! This was certainly a happy day for Maplepaw...

Sandfire nodded. "Of course." She raised her powerful voice. "Oh, apprentices!" Then, as an added enticement. "It's about the contest!" She lowered her voice slightly and addressed him directly. "And... sorry... I know this is an odd request, but can we give an event to Onionpaw? I can guarentee that I'll spend our sessions training her for it, and she's quite promising already. With me mentoring her, I know she's got it in her to win!" She stopped herself before she continued any further. It sounded so selfish. Perhaps it was. But could it really be selfish to get the best out of her apprentice? Or to want Sunclan to win?
