|ooc| Yes, he was such a lion-hearted fellow. -- bowshead-- Funny how we're talking about him in past tense, like he's already dead. xD But, sure, maybe he'll die when ze kitties are four moons old. So long to wait... >>
|bic| Content to know that his words of relief and comfort were finally taking its toll on his mate, he purred jubilantly, stretching out his forepaws in grandiose. Running his tongue over one of Littlewind's ears, his golden liquid-brown eyes trailed over to Emeraldkit's flank, and he grinned minutely. "Perhaps it has, Littlewind. But no matter -- it gives her a certain...flair, you could say. Maybe you could add in an unique quality to the remark as well." Nodding to himself in silent agreement, Lionmane's gaze flickered over to the nursery's exitway, casually staring out in to the camp's clearing where he had a good view of most things there. Eventually growing bored just glancing out for no explicable reason, he turned to face his mate. What to do now?
|ooc| Can you say short? oo;

ooc: Thanks Fudgey, your 'WHY's really screwed up the page layout for me!
bic: Sandfire bounded back from the apprentice contest. Those other clans really made her blood boil. And Onionpaw didn't even have a chance to fight! She looked back impatiently, waiting for her apprentice to show off. After all the frustration of keeping quiet during that agonising arguement she wanted to run, she wanted to fight, to do SOMETHING. "I'm talking out a patrol!" she called to the camp in general, before storming off towards the trees.
Silverfang pads to the edge of the camp, paws sinking into the ground like winter mist. His coat shines even more brilliantly than it had done when he was living, marred only by the spotless but gaping wound where Snowstar had attacked him. He smiles humourlessly, piercing blue eyes scanning the undergrowth like torchbeams. He waits. Skystar may be the biggest challenge of all the clan leaders, as the moments of rage, the loopholes of rage his could exploit where few and far between compared to the other tearfull and tantrumy leaders. But in time, he knew he could suceed. Just one slip on Skystar's part... AND HE WOULD POUNCE!

”Can I come” Onionpaw asked timidly, seeing the frustration and bottled up anger etched clearly on Sandfire’s face. There seemed to also be something else, like a secret she wasn’t telling anyone, but the dalmation-marked apprentice wasn’t too sure. And she felt guilty - guilty that she hadn’t performed in the contest. Of course it wasn’t her fault and Onionpaw wasn’t so self-centered that she didn’t know that but still …as always happens when you look back on an event; Onionpaw was thinking of a hundred-and-one things she could have done to prevent the disasterous meeting. But, it had passed and once again she had just wasted another minute of her life so it was time to do something, time to get to know her mentor a little better. At the current rate she would be an apprentice for ever, something she defiantly did not want to do. As much as she was enjoying her kit-hood dream, her sights were now set on being a Warrior; then maybe even a deputy like Sandfire herself. Going on a patrol seemed to first way to become more active to her clan, and anyway; it gave her something to think about. Struck by an inspiration, Onionpaw lifted her chin, ears alert and forward and eyes scanning the mass of many-coloured pelts that was Sunclan. ”Maplepaw” she called loudly, looking for her ginger friend. Maplepaw was one of the only two apprentices in all four clans who had got to compete and Onionpaw hadn’t had a good talk with her for ages; and now would be the perfect opportunity. As long as Moongaze didn’t mind…
Licking the kitten gently on the cheek, Otterfur sat Cinderkit a little way outside of Sunclan. It was time to tell her what she had tried to keep secret for so many years; time to answer the kits every question and treat her less like a kitten and more like an equal. It was how Otterfur would have wanted to be treated and although might have been frowned upon by queens was the right thing to do in the oily Sunclan she-cat’s mind. ”Cinderkit” she said gently, trying to act as though Cinderkit was a grownup but painfully aware that she was still addressing a young, tender and innocent kitten. ”Cinderkit - I’m going to answer all your questions, all of them” she mewed firmly, eyes crinkled with sorrow. There was no doubt what the questions would be about and Otterfur was reluctant to let Cinderkit go from the motherly embrace she had held her in all these happy moons. But the kitten was growing up and deserved to be told. And she deserved to be told now.

ooc-Same here.Thanks Pawpaw!
Bic- Skystar bounded back and looked around for Aquakit.Clearing his throat he jumped onto High Branch and yowled "May cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath High Branch for a clan meeting!" Not even waiting for them to come he began."One of the kits that was suppose to be apprentices wasn't present during the time and must be apprentice seeing that they have reached their sixth moon."Now he paused for dramatic effect.
Sunset came back and looked at Pinepaw."Don't worry we will get them next time."She layed her tail on her shoulder and padded toward the gathered cats. She glanced around for Moongaze and noticed him not to far away and waved her tail at him to come over and sit beside her.
"Aquakit please step forward."He mewed loud enough that the crowd would hush."Until you have gotten your warrior name you name from now on will be Aquapaw."He then glanced around at any available cats.He saw one and mewed "Mudclaw you are a trusted warrior and haven't had an apprentice yet.You shall mentor Aquapaw."With that he jumped down from the branch and nodded at the mentor. Cinderkit lay gently on the cold, grassy floor as her breathing slowed. Her eyes drooped, but she began asking questions furiously. Though most of them were slurred, the weary kit seemed not to notice. "I - I want to find my parents...I want to find my siblings, when can I g- go?" But Cinderkit, a two-moon old kit, felt sick to her stomach. Little had she known with her small brain, the immune system she had was still building. And, being so young, she still needed to receive a cold or two before growing higher with that. She felt pressure in her stomach, as if a bubbling sort of thing. What was this feeling? It was so disgusting, it made her lips quiver. This recent event with the lake and scenting so many different things at the apprentice contest, this was enough to make her want to vomit. She moaned softly, trying not to let Otterfur hear.

..:Aquapaw:.. The newly anounced aprentice flailed his tail in excitement kneeding his claws into the rocks making little scratching noises.Once Skystar had said his new mentor he bounced up and walked boldly over to Mudclaw bowing his head and touching noses in respect.Once cats started to leave he turned to Mudclaw with a slew of questions "What are we going to do?When are we going to start training? Are you going to teach me to hunt? When are you going to do that? Will you teach me to fight?I think I will be a good fighter?Do you think I will be a good fighter?"

Maplepaw's ears swiveled, picking up Onionpaw's voice. Excusing herself from Moongaze, she padded over to her friend and sat down beside her. "Hi, Onionpaw." she mewed warmly. Suddenly her face fell a little. "Sorry you didn't get to fight in the contest... I would've asked them to do fighting first if I would have known it would end like that." Suddenly Maplepaw felt bad, and rather like she was on the spot. She alone out of the Sunclan apprentices had gotten to compete. Hopefully they weren't mad at her... "But it wasn't my fault anyways, so if they blame it on me then that's their problem." she thought, a bit hot-headedly. Suddenly it struck her as rather odd- the way her mind worked. It was as if one side of her would be very humble and meek, but then as soon as she began thinking as she did just now, negatively or self-consiously, her other stubborn, hot tempered side stepped in to fight her gentle one. Alas, the difficulties of an apprentice!

ooc-- *wails angrily* Someone deleted my spiffy WHYWHYWHYWHY post! =(
Onionpaw gave a little snort of laughter as her friend spoke, then stopped as she realized Maplepaw actually meant it and gave her a gentle, friendly nudge. ”That’s okay; it wasn’t your fault at all!” It was true, the ginger and white apprentice had had absolutely no part to play in the early finish of the Contest and had simply done an outstanding job by just keeping her focus and not loosing to Boulderclan. Struck with a sudden conversational idea, Onionpaw leant her head closer to Maplepaw’s in the way all she-cat apprentices did when they wanted a nice, juicy gossip. ”How do you like Moongaze?” she giggled, looking at the grey warrior who was eyeing the patrol curiously, as thought trying to make up his mind whether to come or not. The dalmation she-cat sneaked a glance at Sandfire, wondering when she would go and whether she would allow the two of them to come.
Otterfur saw Cinderkit’s distress and suddenly felt terrible. Had she done the wrong thing telling Cinderkit when she was so young. Probably; but there was no time to dwell on what should or shouldn’t have been done, only what to do to correct mistakes. ”You want to find your parents” she repeated thoughtfully, trying not to look at the miserable kitten for it mad her feel miserable inside too. ”I’ll help you” she suddenly promised, feeling a wrenching sensation in her gut. She wanted Cinderkit all to herself, to pretend to be her guardian all this time as she had been doing for those two happy moons but obviously that was not to be. ”And your siblings… well Cinderkit, you might not have siblings” Otterfur mewed, gently but not too sympathetically as there was nothing wrong with being an only-kitten …she had been. And anyways; it would make the matter all so much simpler if Cinderkit didn’t think she was related to any other kittens. None of them looked much like her anyway. Otterfur groaned and in a role-reversal tried not to let the kitten hear it. That little Boulderclan kit had looked exactly like Cinderkit. Making a mental note to herself, Otterfur promised never to let Cinderkit anywhere near Boulderclan.

ooc - of course, me XDDD
bic - Cinderkit felt a bubbling in her throat, and she felt a tear roll down her cheek in pain. "Otterfur, my - my tummy..." Before she could even finish, Cinderkit upchucked in a splutter of coughs across the floor. She tried lifting her head to stand, but instantly it fell and she began crying terribly, thrashing around. What was this sudden heat? Her body felt so warm, yet so cold at the same time. It was as though she was on fire, but she was trapped in ice. It didn't feel good, it felt like a tornado was growing within her soul. And why did her throat hurt so bad? It felt like it was on fire too! "Someone put out the fire!" She screamed, feeling as though she were on fire herself. She curled up into a ball and shivered, wailing. Then, she said the exact thing that every kit says - but also the exact thing Cinderkit should've never said. "I want my mommy, I want her to make it better!"

Maplepaw smiled appreciatively. "Thanks." she purred. Then she laughed at her friend's question. "Moongaze?" she said softly, eyeing her mentor. "Well, he's kinda funny sometimes, but I like him." she said with a giggle. "Of course, he hasn't been my mentor that long, so I can't say definitely. How about Sandfire?" she sat for a moment more looking at the patrol and then asked, a bit mischeiviously "Do you think they'll let us come too?" ooc: bleh. Short again. I haven't got too long to be on so...

Mudclaw approached hesitantly, touching noses with her new apprentice. Feeling slightly ashamed about the lack of time she had spent with her sister, especially now she had kits, she hesitated when answering the bombarding of questions. "...-yes. But you have plenty of time to do that." she said. "Why don't you go bring the Queen's some fresh kill. We'll head out...soon."
***
Fishfeather returned into camp, tail flicking in approval. New apprentices meant new warriors; new warriors meant... more patients? No. A strong and healthy clan. Right. Mouth full of bitter-smelling leaves, he could alone give congratulations with a flick of his tail and a warm glow in his eyes.
***
Dovepaw was fighting against some imaginary warrior, jabbing out and by the imaginary squeaks of fear obviously winning his battle. However, as his commentary grew louder and louder, one could tell that this invisible foe was indeed a hybrid of Mintstar and Earthstar. "Earthstar you coward! You can't even put up a fight and you call us weak! And you, Mintstar! Pathetic! Calling off the whole apprentice competition because your own apprentices can't control yourselves. You stink." With one furtive blow, he trotted over to the fresh-kill pile and chowed violently.
