DreamClan
Dawnfire nodded and mewed "Do you know where they are going to hold the fishing competition?"She then noticed from the corner of her eye the warrior that was looking at Ashfeather."Well nevermind I guess I'll join my clan.Bye!"She flicked her tail goodbye and left back toward where the DreamClan cats were. ooc-- I don’t mind, no!
.:Lakeclan:. Earthstar’s furry pistons shot upwards as if branded with an electric rod atop his tabby cranium. Kettlekit! Here! Oh Fireclan - all his nightmares and worries were about to cumulate into this one Apprentice Contest. If Kettlekit was here, how could he bear seeing her without saying …without spilling the story. He had to distract himself, and Snowstar fast. ”I love you” he breathed, pulling away from Snowstar and chewing his lip until two tiny pinpricks of blood oozed from the soft cut. ”We’ll speak later” he promised, then bounded back towards the main clearing, long, striped tail lashing out behind him. ”Cats of all clans” he mewed loudly and clearing, continuing the tradition he liked to uphold of addressing the many cats of multiple clans as if they were all under his command. ”I would like to say we could start although as Boulderclan is late …again” he muttered under his breath before raising his chin and addressing the felines gathered in the parallel hollow once more ”so we must tarry but a little longer. The first event shall be …Fishing. Please prepare.” Stepping down from the large, solo rock that graced the centre of the clearing Earthstar smiled at his own words. No-one had agreed the first contest was to be Fishing - but in the arrogant tabby’s mind - what Earthstar said was the law.
.:Sunclan:. Moongaze looked at his apprentice Maplepaw, eyes shining with adrenalin and excitement, but it could only have been a raindrop compared to the vast lake of emotion she and the other apprentices must be feeling at the moment. Especially Maplepaw - she was up next. ”You’re on” he whispered, stating the obvious in an un-necessary yet oddly consoling manner. Remembering her question he chortled, knowing where she was to compete might just help her out a little. ”Fishing is over there” he mewed, jabbing vaguely with his tail as if it was a pointer stick. Realizing that this might not have been the most helpful thing he could have done - he bent down to her eye-level, feeling her whiskers tickle his. ”Just there - over by that sandy beach - see the protruding tree-trunk?” The grey warrior flicked her once on the ears with his long grey tail then stepped back. It would be up to her now and although he desperately wanted her to win - for one reason for her own benefit and a Sunclan victory but also so cats would know it was /his/ apprentice who had won the competition. He felt selfish for thinking it so tried to cast that thought from his mind. ”Go Maplepaw!” he called, chuckling, then turned around, speaking with a completely different pitch to his voice. ”Sunset?”
”Cinderkit!” Otterfur exclaimed wildly, leaping into the air as she heard the kit’s high pitched mewl, the last thing she had been expecting to hear here. Then her voice changed - it was no longer surprised and questioning - it was hard and cold. ”Go away Cinderkit, the apprentice contest isn’t for you.” She felt horrible sending the kitten away - but she had to learn some discipline. She could not stay at the Apprentice Contest, one because of the obvious - she was a kit and kittens weren’t aloud but two because of the question of her past. No-one in Sunclan knew which clan she was in and if one of the leaders recognized her …it would be trouble that was best left avoided. And especially as the mud coloured warrior cared so much for the tiny, mysterious kitten, she couldn’t stand losing her …but of course none of this could be explained to Cinderkit so Otterfur took to cold, expressionless and icy path to getting the kit back into camp.
.:Dreamclan:. Waterpaw goggled at Speckledpaw, turning on his heel from where he had padded away. He never knew the she-cat liked him so much. It made him feel goooood as if he had just eaten a particularly succulent piece of fresh-kill. Perhaps a nice juicy wood-pigeon …or maybe even a pheasant. WHAT WAS HE DOING THINKING ABOUT WOOD PIGEONS! The contest was about to start with Fishing as the first event. Waterpaw racked his brains, trying to remember whether Dreamclan had entered Fishing. He couldn’t remember - so assumed Adderpaw or Ravenpaw would be doing that particular task. Waiting until Onionpaw had padded away, presumably to support Maplepaw, looking slightly bemused but wildly excited with the start of the contest, Waterpaw crept back to Speckledpaw. ”Let’s just pretend that never happened” he mewed awkwardly, feeling very conscious of every part of his silver tabby body and then - as if truly nothing had happened he leapt to his paws, eyes shining brightly in the steadily increasing light. ”C’mon!” he mewed to Speckledpaw, tail lashing excitedly from side to side. ”It’s starting!”

Cinderkit looked at Otterfur angrily, tears welling in her eyes. These eyes, when compared to Snowstar's and Earthstar's, were a mix between the two. Brown like Earthstar's, but so sweet and gentle like Snowstar's. It seemed your heart would break if you saw tears in these precious eyes - but it seemed Otterfur's heart had not. She backed away, shaking her head with a snarl. I hate you! She ran off, tears falling from her eyes like a waterfall. She tried to forget that cruel, heartless look that Otterfur had given her. But everytime she tried, it just returned.

Speckledpaw smiled and nodded, whispering in his ear. Good luck. ( blech, short )

Dovepaw felt awkward about mingling with other clans; they were enemies, competitors? Who had time for small talk? His pelt bristling ever so slightly, he situated himself near-center of the clearing. Hunting? His stocky build made him a fighter, but not a stealthy or light hunter. Then again, he was accurate and with his powerful hind legs, he could jump quite well. If he didn't smash his prey, he considered he had a fair chance at the apprentice contest. Maybe.

Dawnbreeze and Willowkit appeared, half hidden behind some bushes. The pretty queen held Lightningkit by his scruff, as she looked around for Boulderclan. "Where's Boulderclan," Willowkit mewed, speaking what Dawnbreeze was thinking. The she-cat just shrugged, unable to speak because of the fur that was in her mouth. She placed Lightningkit down on the ground gently, smoothing the fur that was sticking up from behind his neck where Dawnbreeze had been holding him a moment before. "As long as you behave, you may stay to watch the apprentice's compete. Otherwise, I will take you back to camp. You still need rest, but I think it'd be good for you to observe. Maybe you'll learn something." She blinked warmly down at the young kit.

.:Sunclan:. ”Cinderkit …wait” the mud coloured she-cat called hopelessly after the retreating kit. She would not go back to Sunclan - that was for sure so who knew what kind of trouble she could get in. However Maplepaw was about to compete, and Otterfur didn’t want to tarry any longer in getting down to the lake shore to spur the Sunclan apprentice on. But Cinderkit… ”Oh you useless hair-ball” she grumbled, squeezing her way through the woods after Cinderkit, tracking the distressed kitten easily. ”You’re going to be in /so/ much trouble when I find you…”

://sun; Cinderkit sniffled a bit, but even beneath her wails she still managed to put on a look of worry. She had to hide somewhere - she had to hide somewhere so that she could stay there for days and days, making Otterfur realize how much Cinderkit gave to her, to make her life 'happy.' The she-kit's eyes glowed and she looked past her, Otterfur was a while away. Cinderkit, without thinking, pounced into the lake. Normally she would've expected to drown, and Otterfur would've saved her - but no.
She was swimming, Cinderkit swimming! A SunClan cat, swimming as if she'd been doing it all of her life. Instantly Cinderkit started noticing things she had never cared or bothered to ask about, but now she wanted to know. What was her history? How was she born into SunClan, who were her parents? Cinderkit hated being an only-kit, and she desperately wanted siblings. Unfortunately she was too old to join Littlewind's litter. She continued on and bobbed her head up to take a breath, only to find a sickly scent on the roof of her mouth. It tasted sticky and humid - was that LakeClan scent?

Sunclan Maplepaw swallowed a dry swallow, and nodded once. "Thanks." she said, her tongue feeling numb and dry in her mouth. How could she have been so dumb as to choose fishing? Oh well, that was over with, now it was time to focus on what she needed to do. She started off, not really knowing exactly where she was going but supposing she should talk a little to her fellow apprentices to wish them luck before the contest. A she walked, she gained confidence. She could do this! The lop-sided, confident grin spread across her face once again and she held her tail a little bit higher. Even if she lost, she could make a mark for her clan. By now she was near the center of the clearing. She stood searching the faces of the different cats, hoping to find one of her clanmates, especially Onionpaw. Not seeing any of them, she was about to turn and walk back to be with her mentor when she saw Dovepaw. Padding tentatively up to him she said "Hey, how's it going?" The moment the words escaped her lips she regretted them. They just seemed so... dumb. And to make matters worse, she hadn't talked to Dovepaw much previously. What an introduction.Lakeclan Ashfeather nodded slightly. "Bye." His eyes followed her as she walked away. Eventually the fiery pelt dissapeared amongst all the others and he was suddenly aware of his brother's presence again. "Oh- uh, Dreamclan warrior, huh?" he said awkwardly. Eager to change the subject, he said "Hey- fishing's first! I can't wait to see Lakeclan win this one."

Silverfoot looked at his brother suspiciously, sensing a change in him. With a small growl, he nodded. "Yes..let's go get a good seat, before everyone else gets there." His dark blue eyes lingered on Ashfeather for a moment longer, and his eyebrow twitched, before he averted his gaze forward, padding towards the designated fishing area.

Lakeclan "Right. Good idea." Ashfeather said, a little too quickly. He couldn't help but take one last look out of the corner of his eye at Dreamclan as he stood up to follow his brother. When he got up he noticed Silverfoot's seemingly agitated expression. "Sooo..." he said as they walked along. "I wonder which apprentices will be competing from the other clans?" ooc: very very short. You know, I ought to stop saying when my posts are short because it's practically every post, so I'll get a bit tired of saying it. Ah well. ;( xP

.:Lakeclan:. Earthstar’s lip curled back on itself, his face the picture of scorn and malevolence. ”Ah …here they come” he sneered, one eyes fixed solidly on the approaching party of Boulderclan cats, the other flicking back and forth around the camp, watching for enemies who might want to attack him. ”Nice of you to turn up” he called out jeeringly across the clearing, this time not keeping his voice low and scornful but loud and openly mocking. ”Hope we haven’t kept you!” Earthstar was hostile to all of the clans; but for different reasons. Sunclan he found and annoying and their ultra-good way of life irked him to no end, it was fun to pick on and annoy them. Dreamclan he used to scoff because of their weakness and un-organization …but when he had met Snowstar suddenly he didn’t think it wise to mock them any more. Earthstar wasn’t afraid of any cat in any clan …except his mate, the she-cat Snowstar. He knew what she-cats could do when they were mad. Boulderclan however he felt was his only true rival; so of course he felt it necessary to be as hostile as possible to them. Like now.
Walnutpaw bounced from paw to paw, feeling the sand from the beach beneath his toes. There was no-one from Lakeclan Fishing, a foolish gesture on Earthstar’s part as they would have almost certainly won it. But …he wasn’t arguing - he was going tree-climbing in his opinion the hardest and most taxing of all the tasks and of /course/ that was why Earthstar had given it to him. His fluffy brown chest swelled with this thought and he turn his walk into a kind of strut. The cats doing it so far were a Sunclan cat and possibly a Boulderclan cat, as no Dreamclan apprentices seemed particularly attentive towards the beach. Walnutpaw however wanted to keep on top of things, and make sure he knew who was doing what when. It might help him to win - and with Earthstar as your leader of the clan, losing wasn’t an option. His smile slipped slightly as he imagined what the high tabby tom would do if Lakeclan lost.
.:Sunclan:. ”CINDERKIT GET OUT OF THERE” Otterfur shrieked in blind panic, lunging into the water after the kitten. The mud coloured she-cat could swim of course, she had been practicing all her life, but Otterfur { although not big } was strong and knew how to keep her head raised in exactly the right position and how to not take in water as she breathed. ”Cinderkit, c’mon” she pleaded, swimming forward as carefully as she could so as not to splash Cinderkit and get water in her mouth. Why wouldn’t the kitten listen to her! Kits never listened, they thought the world only turned to revolve around them! But Otterfur’s careful and smooth method of moving through the icy water was also a slow one, and Cinderkit seemed to be struggling. ”Please” she moaned weakly, pushing forward with her back legs to move faster, ”please come this way Cinderkit!”
Moongaze settled down on the sandy beach, out of the corner of his left eye seeing an ebony brown Lakeclan apprentice bounce around and the corner of his right Onionpaw settling down nearby to watch her friend. ”You can do it Maplepaw” the shaggy grey tom called encouragingly, grinning at his apprentice. It seemed that not many apprentices were partaking in Fishing, and unless the brown apprentice was Fishing { which Moongaze doubted he was } then Lakeclan hadn’t entered either. An odd move - but a good one for Sunclan whose chances had now shot up. The question was - was a cat out of Dreamclan, Boulderclan or both also Fishing. Moongaze looked inquiringly up at Earthstar who seemed to have appointed himself commentator, but no answer came - he was trying his best to patronize Boulderclan, an action which Moongaze had watched him do many times before and frankly bored him now.
ooc -- I’ll reply with Dreamclan and Boulderclan later m’kay? I haff to go to school. =(

.:Dreamclan:. Oatpaw’s fur stood on end ever so slightly as he heard the accusations Lakeclan { or rather - Earthstar } was shooting at Boulderclan, not because they caused him any concern but because they were delaying the gathering by more and more and he wanted it done. ”Fishing…” he muttered to himself, himself being his preferred recipient of his musing. Anyways, it wasn’t like he had any friends to choose from. ”Nope, no-one in Dreamclan is in Fishing” he concluded, nodding his head and pictured an identical HobNob coloured apprentice doing the same in front of him. ”So, let’s just find a seat and wait for Seeking” Oatpaw mewed, settling down not too close to the other appetencies to have to mingle with them, but near enough to be aware what was going on.
.:Boulderclan:. Paintedpaw’s lip curled almost back on itself, mirroring the expression on Earthstar’s face, although with slightly less cruel humour and much more menace. His claws scraped the turf beneath his huge paw-pads as he looked the Lakeclan leader directly in the eyes, puffing out his protruding muscles to appear impressive. He knew where Earthstar’s gaze would be pointing however - straight at Mintstar. He had been picked to compete in this stupid little contest, but the only reason he had gone along was because Jaypaw couldn’t train at an adequate level for him. It wasn’t like he was actually going to climb the puny little tree …no, he was there for a different reason. The surly apprentice wanted to pick up as much information about everything and everyone as he could. Of course he would be sharing it all with Jaypaw, but as his companion ( he could never be called a friend ) wasn’t here, he would have to find things out for himself. Anything would be good - anything to keep the two forgotten apprentices with a good idea of what was going on.

SunClan Skystar rolled his tail as Earthstar was yelling at BoulderClan. His tail flicked imaptiently though as if they were walking in slow motiong. Sunset looked around for Pinepaw and mewed "Pinepaw!"She glanced around franticly but could find the apprentice. She then spotted Moongaze and mewed to him as she padded up to him "Have you seen Pinepaw anywhere?"
DreamClan Dawnfire glanced at the tom again but didn't say anything. Is anybody fishing from DreamClan? She thought to herself and glanced over at the apprentices crowded around the water. So we so far have SunClan there but what about LakeClan and BoulderClan? She thought to herself but she knew she didn't actually want to know all she thought about was that LakeClan tom.
LakeClan Nightfire flicked her tail as she glanced around for Banditpaw.Of course my apprentice is nowwhere in sight. She growled under her breath and stood up to see if she saw the small body.
BoulderClan Oakpaw ran out of the camp and then yowled at Coldheart "COME ON!"She quickly put on speed and ran towards the BoulderClan party heading down towards the apprentice contest. Gradually she caught up with the party but out of breath as well."Must catch breath.'She mewed to herself as she set her pace to the same as everybody elses. [/size]

Crimsonaura trotted silently onwards, her emerald gaze straying over to Earthstar, and at his jeering call laid her ears against her cranium wistfully. If she had been feeling up to it, she would have definitely gived that pompous oaf of a leader a good one-two, word-wise. An answering, coherent hiss from behind her, clearly Coldheart, told her that the tom was about to waspishly reply to Earthstar's unpolite and belligerent geeting; really, she wouldn't call it a greeting. "I'd keep a tight-lip if I were you, you no good, wishy-washy, infuriating excuse for a leader!" Coldheart called out in the direction of Earthstar, balefully eyeing the brown tom-cat with his ice-cold blue orbs. He looked as if he were saying with eyes alone, "Come on, I dare you to retort". Cheetahpaw, keeping a briskpace behind and between Crimsonaura and the black-and-white tom, agreed with a loud yowl of approval. No cat, and no cat, tried to mess with the mighty cats of BoulderClan. Unless, of course, they wanted a claw to the face in response.

Cinderkit looked back at Otterfur and wanted to just run off to LakeClan and ignore the she-cat, Otterfur hated her! Cinderkit had never realized how annoying it is to hang around Otterfur, she always thought of the she-cat as a sort of mother to her. She stopped and waited for Otterfur, but when the she-cat arrived it was not a smile on young Cinderkit's face. Otterfur, you hate me. Either that or I just annoy the life out of you, but I want to know something and I want to know now. Was I born in SunClan? She asked, her eyes narrowed as she bit back tears with her trembling lip. She didn't belong in SunClan, she never had.
