Snowstar - i am standing in the distance She took a deep breath and stepped into the gathering area: Fourstones. She turned behind her to find her Clan assembling around the first rock, as they should. Snowstar, however, was not the least bit worried in her Clan right now. She searched around desperately for what she wanted to see most - and there it was. Earthstar and Shiningfrost coming from LakeClan direction. She hestitated not to smile, merely cleared her throat and put a serious look upon her features. However, inside she was simply bursting with joy at the fact she was seeing him, not even caring that his incredible aroma was making her dizzy. He was like a drug to her: she needed him. "Good evening, Shiningfrost." Snowstar began to the she-cat, nodding in respect. Earthstar and the rest of the Clan were almost there, and it would be easier to speak with all of the noise going on. Shiningfrost - never far behind, only far ahead Shiningfrost approached the leader and nodded professionally - of course she could smile without looking suspicious, and right about now she wasn't sure she could've refrained either way. "Good evening, Snowstar, it's lucky we're having the apprentice contest on such a nice night." She stated, looking around. The sky was beautiful - stars were scattered across it, and Shiningfrost just wanted to paint a picture. She closed her eyes and breathed in the warm, crisp air with another refreshing purr. When she opened her eyes she saw Earthstar approaching and the medicine cat purred, whispering. "Oh, I'm sorry, I think Earthstar wanted to be the one to tell you - Lightningkit is in BoulderClan right now." She whispered hoarsely.

.:Dreamclan:. Oatpaw and Waterpaw skidded to a halt beside { but slightly behind Snowstar } Oatpaw’s excitement devouring every last scrap of pride and reverence he held in him. He was happy to run alongside the other apprentices now, eyes shining with excitement. The HobNob coloured tom look shrewdly at Shiningfrost and Snowstar, wondering. What was the Lakeclan medicine cat doing talking to their leader as if she knew her? It was another mystery ready to be solved, perhaps even surrounding the death of Scarletvixen which had happened so long ago but still left raw chasms of un-answeredness in the air behind it.
Waterpaw however looked eagerly around the clearing, shining blue/grey eyes not missing a thing. There was the sandy bank with protruding fallen tree from which the Fishing apprentices would be fishing. There was the mossy clearing, sides padded with fallen leaves and soft, downy earth to try and limit casualties. There was the passage leading into the large woodland where the apprentices would be Hunting and Seeking. And there - standing high and proud in the centre of the clearing was the huge pine tree up which Waterpaw would be soon climbing. The apprentice tried not to look at up, gulping down a rush of nausea that sped up his throat.
.:Lakeclan:. Cornflower halted at the edge of the clearing picked to hold the Apprentice Contest. It was a clearing very like the one used for Gatherings, with high earthy banks surrounding it although in this case, they were only on two sides. On one of the other sides was a great lake and small sandy beach with fallen log jutting out from it, the other a passage to deep and dark looking woodland. The golden she-cat looked back at Stripepaw proudly. She had no reason to be proud; the warrior had barely trained the apprentice but her heart swelled as she saw the bravery and maturness of this little { or not so little anymore } cat. ”Ready?” she mewed softly, licking Stripepaw on the cheek in a motherly fashion.
Walnutpaw dashed forwards, skidding on his paws as he tried { too late } to stop himself next to Earthstar. The momentum caused by his dash through the woods brought him rolling down the steep bank, head over heels and ending up lying limply at the roots of the great pine tree. It took a few seconds for him to realize this was the tree he was to be climbing and he did not linger on that thought; his embarrassment was far too great. He could see the Dreamclan apprentices ogling down at him across the clearing and Cornflower stifling a chuckle, Earthstar looking furious back up the way he had just fallen. It was time to make himself scarce.
”Insolent…half-brained…mousedung of a fool” Earthstar grumbled, following Walnutpaw quickly down the slope, long hooked claws securing his balance on the leafy and slippery slope. ”Get your …” he began but broke off, staring at the cat silhouetted behind Walnutpaw. Snowstar. His dear Snowstar. ”Snowstar” he breathed, as if in a trance, but then shook his head angrily, scratching his own forepaw to keep himself alert. No-one else but Shiningfrost knew about them - and that was the way it was going to stay. Forever.

Snowstar - trying to prove you wrong Snowstar needed to give Earthstar an excuse not to worry about speaking with her alone - she needed one. Suddenly, a quick movement of Shiningfrost's tail gave her an idea. Snowstar smiled and nodded, walking over to Earthstar with an angry expression on her face. "Earthstar, I need to speak with you alone a moment before Sun and BoulderClan arrive, I hear some of your warriors have been hunting on my territory." She let her eyes betray her emotions - hopefully no one else was noticing. She growled and looked at him as if to say: 'Just get your lazy butt out of this clearing now.' And they say the tom rules the relationship - ha! Snowstar flicked her tail and growled, winking at him before walking off to a secure location.
ooc - a head's up. This is my new format, and i really like it. However, it does not work if I use more than one character in a post, So since I'd like to post Speckledkit next that will be in a seperate post

Speckledpaw - mixed emotions 'I like him, I really like him.' These were the thoughts running through Speckledpaw's head at the moment, thoughts that shouldn't run through her mind. She growled, shaking her head. She did like Waterpaw, a lot! Speckledpaw knew, possibly, she might even wish to have kits with Waterpaw some day, but right now? No, she didn't want to ruin this friendship. Growling, knowing she was probably about to, she pulled Waterpaw to the side roughly. "We need to talk, now." She hissed, fury etched on her face. But within those bright blue eyes she was upset and worried. 'I have to do this, I don't want us to be ended.' She knew not to start the conversation with 'I really, really like you, Waterpaw' - but she probably would anyway.

.:Dreamclan:.
The young apprentice Waterpaw’s eyes narrowed and suddenly flashed with uncharacteristic anger borne by the sensation that all apprentices went through - growing up. ”What?” he grunted bad-temperedly, silver/grey eyes flashing dangerously. His silver tabby fur stood up all over his back, spiking up down his spine like a Mexican wave. At this moment in time he /hated/ Speckledpaw, he wanted to yell at her, to be in an immature mood with her, to blank out any reason that he was being pig-headed and rude. It was the easiest way - it was always the easiest. But yet …at the same time he liked her, he liked her so much that that was part of the reason that was fuelling him to lash out at her with barbed words. He waited for her answer, scowling deeply, eyes still flashing.
.:Lakeclan:.
The massive tabby’s heart soared with pleasure. Oh - his mate was clever as well as stunningly beautiful. ”What? Lakeclan - on Dreamclan land?” he roared, but his eyes showed the rare flash of humour and love that he really felt. Shouldering his way through the congregating apprentices, he took Snowstar off towards the deep, inviting woods. The leaves would muffle their noise and the ancient and weathered trees would hold their secret safely within them, along with the thousands of generations of secrets they already harboured within their gnarled and sunken depths. ”Snowstar” he mewed, in a completely different voice, licking her muzzle with joy and love. ”How are you keeping?” He paused, trying to remember his second sons name and feeling hatred at this fact rise in his throat like bile. ”And Hawk - no Kestrelkit?” Earthstar smiled ruefully, begging Snowstar to forgive him in his eyes, tail swishing slowly from side to side in the stuffy and compressed gloom.

Snowstar - i can make a joke too Snowstar laughed and licked his cheek, her eyes narrowed playfully. "It depends, how's Lightningkit doing?" She asked, a sly smile on her face. She glanced over in Shiningfrost's direction, winking and then turning to look at Earthstar again. Unable to contain herself, Snowstar rushed over to him and buried her muzzle in his chest, for he was larger than she was. She purred and smiled, biting back tears of happiness. "I've missed you so much." ooc - trying it...xD Speckledpaw - shut up Speckledpaw growled and her claws unsheathed, her fangs bared. For that single moment of hatred she considered attacking him, but no. He was her friend - even thoug it didn't seem like it lately. "Waterpaw, I know you like me." She began with a growl and a snarl. "So cut the act. Why are you doing this to me? Putting me through all this torture? I really, really like you too, Waterpaw! But do you think I want to do anything...anything serious while we're apprentices?" She asked, sadness flaring in her eyes.

.:Dreamclan:.
Waterpaw blinked. That wasn’t what he had expected. ”Oh…” he said stupidly, unsure of what to say. He had had no idea of what Speckledpaw had been thinking - he had thought that she had merely been in a mood with him for something he didn’t know he had done. He had thought she was angry at him on the outside /and/ inside, not secretly… Well - he loved her too really but hadn’t even considered something serious… And he was putting her through torture? Waterpaw paused. She-cats
.:Sunpaw:.
”Hey guys!” Onionpaw mewed bouncily, loving the atmosphere around the camp. At once she had wanted to make some new friends - for two reasons. One to do just that - make friends, but the other to get to know her enemies. However, she sensed that the atmosphere around here was different …awkward. It crept up her whiskers, making them tingle. She longed to itch them but knew right now would /not/ be the time. ”Uh…I’ll just leave.” ”No need” said the slightly larger of the two, a silver tabby tom who’s expression was confused and pained. ”I was just going over to see the tree…” He left, tripping over his own paws in his haste to leave the awkward place. ”Sorry” Onionpaw mumbled, looking up at Speckledpaw. ”Uh…shall we go meet some other clans…”
.:Lakeclan:.
Earthstar licked her muzzle again, love filling his eyes. ”I’ve missed you too. I wish…” He paused, knowing that expressing his wish that she could be in his clan was fruitless as she would feel worried about how they were in different clans and complications would arise - complications that Earthstar wanted to avoid at all cost. ”And …how do you know about Lightningkit?” he asked, amazed. Or had she - like him, simply got the names wrong, Heatherkit mixed up with Lightningkit. He hoped not, but felt utterly helpless as if drowning in a pool of confusion. Their family was breaking apart. Something would have to be done? But what? He would have to talk to the caring and cool-headed medicine cat Shiningfrost. She would know what to do. She always did.

Snowstar - a smile lasts forever ... until something happens Snowstar smiled, chortling heartily. "Shiningfrost told me, of course. That must be interesting for Heatherkit, and -" She purred, backing away to look in his eyes once more. "Don't ever expect to get their names wrong, Earthstar, when you go through that kind of pain, you won't forget the names and looks of who is who." Suddenly she tensed and her eyes widened - it looked as though someone had just found out her secret, and that someone was behind Earthstar. Her voice grew hoarse and she tensed, choking slightly. "E - Earthstar...Kettlekit, Kettlekit is here! I recognize that scent anywhere, our Kettlekit! Lucky you, you'll have seen all of them!" Snowstar smiled and, for a brief moment, forgot they weren't even supposed to know about Kettlekit. Cinderkit - clueless, that's my name ... without a kit next to it Cinderkit hissed through gritted teeth, a smile on her face. "Otterfur, look! Look, I'm at an apprentice contest!" She jumped out of her hiding spot, her eyes gleaming happily. "Nobody noticed me, I was following you guys! No one scented me, I'm good at hiding! Aren't I, Otterfur? Uh huh, I'm awesome!" In her own excitement she tripped over her own two paws and began laughing as she rolled around the floor.

..Stoneriver..
Stoneriver watched his apprentice, Waterpaw, from a distance. He noticed the tom once again speaking with Speckledpaw, and not wanting to disturb them, was waiting for him to finish before approaching him for a few last words of encouragement and advice.
..Silverfoot..
The stocky tabby tom entered the clearing, first noticing the large tree that the apprentices would be climbing. "Looks like fun," he meowed, sarcasm lacing his words, "Especially when you fall. Probably the best part." Glancing at his brother, he shrugged, going to check out all the individual places where the apprentices would be competing at.
ooc// Is Lightningkit going to arrive at the apprentice contests?

SunClan
Skystar trudged down toward the place.Seeing Earthstar and Snowstar their gave him the relief of not being first but not last either. He flicked his tail and then clan came down-hopefully- behind him.He nodded at the clan and mewed "Greetings Snowstar, Earthstar."He nodded at both of them trying not to sound rude.
Sunset padded after them and mewed "Okay Pinepaw this is like a gathering so don't give anything away that the other clans might use against us okay?"She flicked her tail and left to talk to the other clans.
DreamClan Dawnfire glanced around as SunClan came in.Hearing Moxies words she was wondering if they did ever attack them.Would they have a chance? She shook the thought out of her head and glanced around at the LakeClan cats. She then saw Ashfeather.Probably from LakeClan. She thought to herself and padded up to him and mewed "Hello your from LakeClan right? How's prey running?"She felt a weird feeling down in her paws and all through her body but didn't know what. She decided to ignore it.
LakeClan Nightfire glanced around as another clan came into sight and soon around them as well.Where is Banditpaw? She thought to herself and looked around for the apprentice but couldn't find him.She shrugged and glanced around Cornflower.Where is she as well?Probably with Thunderfoot. But decided to ignore the last part and sat down waiting for it to start. ..Silverfoot..
Silverfoot was on his way back to meet with Ashfeather when he noticed a pretty she-cat walking towards him. One sniff told him that she was a Dreamclan cat, and his lip curled involuntarily. Regaining his composure, he grunted, his head nodding in greeting. Hearing her inquisitive question, he shot Ashfeather a look of warning. 'Be careful what you give away..' he thought, silently trying to send the message to his brother.

Lakeclan Ashfeather grunted at Silverfoot's remark about falling. "That would be terrible..." he thought to himself. Suddenly out of the corner of his eye he saw a fiery pelt coming towards him and the next he heard a she cat's voice. Jumping slightly, he turned to face her. "Oh! Hi! Yeah, I'm from Lakeclan..." he said, stumbling over his words. Who was this cat? Well, he knew one thing, she was the prettiest cat he'd ever seen. "Prey? Well it's-" he stopped short, reading the message written in Silverfoot's eyes. "it's fine." he ended, a bit awkwardly, with a sidelong glance at his brother. Sunclan Maplepaw felt the tension and excitement like it was drops of water weighing down her fluffy, dark ginger fur. Her eyes roved over all the cats assembled. Everybody in the world was there! To watch her! Well, not just her, but all the apprentices. Her ears flattened against her head. "Fishing..." was all she could think about. "Where will they hold the fishing contest?" she asked Moongaze, trying to sound bright. She was really quite a confused cat at the moment, she had felt just fine, almost even cocky before the contest, but now the time had come and she felt utterly bewildered. Desperately she tried to cling onto her vanishing pride and confidence as she awaited her mentor's answer.

Speckledpaw sighed, frowning and shuffling her paws. She couldn't believe she was actually doing this, and she instantly hated herself. She wanted to pursue this relationship, but right now she just wanted to be friends. She didn't want to worry about mates or falling in love, she wasn't ready for that responsiblity. She looked up to meet Waterpaw's gaze, exhileration and anxiety fluttering through her eyes.
Waterpaw, I do like you. I like you a lot, and maybe that will grow into love someday - but not right now. Right now all I want to worry about is whether or not I'll win the hunting competition, I want to have fun. She smiled and leaned in, licking his cheek and whispering in his ear. Just remember to wait.
Without even a second glance, she winked at him and turned away to walk off. She dipped her head to Onionpaw and noticed Snowstar speaking with Earthstar - of course. They were probably fighting again, the two leaders hated each other. Then she saw SunClan arrive, and she sighed. Willowkit probably wasn't an apprentice yet, with the way BoulderClan was running...she bit back tears as the thought of Pebblekit entered her mind again. [/blockquote]
